The media have an agenda, which during this process has become apparent.
----------------------------------------------

The victime mentality re-surfaces

Pray tell what this 'agenda' is & why it seemingly exists across the entire media spectrum

toblerone, the press like to beat anyone with a stick. they did it with wolves and their managerial situation and are now doing it with us considering we haven't had a manager for nearly 2 weeks.

They all speak to their candidate/s, call it an interview or w.e it doesnt matter its the same thing when it comes to football.
-----------------------------------------------------

Oh come off it, once the 'formal' approach has gone it, the appt is virtually always a fait accompli - as the discussions have already gone on via agents etc, clearing the way for a final meeting to conclude the process.

What's been going on at LFC in the last week is totally different, it's been a public sizing up of candidates & a desire to follow a process that seemingly no-one apart from Martinez was willing to participate in.

That wasn't what he was intimating, he was suggesting that were was an anti LFC agenda.

" When have you ever heard of a football club approaching another club for permission for their manager to attend an interview? "

Well a quick look at Steve Bruce's history of being approached -

'Bolton Wanderers were refused permission to speak to him about their managerial vacancy. Later that month, Bruce and Yeung held a meeting which reportedly had positive results. However, Bruce later claimed that Birmingham's then Managing Director Karren Brady had "shafted" him on a new contract with the club, and when Wigan Athletic requested permission to speak to Bruce about their managerial vacancy, he was receptive to their approach.

On 27 May 2009, Bruce was reported to have been given permission to talk to Sunderland about succeeding Ricky Sbragia, who resigned as manager after the last match of the season'

No it never happens does it

You make it sound like it's our owners who have been publicising our recruitment policy.

FSG have kept quiet throughout the whole process and it's the media or Dave Whelan who are guilty of making a mockery of the whole process.

How have Whelan & the press made a mockery of the process?

well anytime anything has happened, whelan has been straight on the phone to sky sports news. The press keep going on about this process being a mockery, but how do they know? FSG have kept their cards close to their chest and are getting slated for it.

lfcbow - TB has me filtered if you would like to address his assertion "When have you ever heard of a football club approaching another club for permission for their manager to attend an interview?" - with the examples I've given. If you don't want to that's fine as well

They've approached a number of targets though, something that is alien to how the process normally works. So the press have stated their opinion on it.

As for Whelan, Martinez is his manager & he has every right to pass comment on what's going on with him.

Tonerone

The only ones publisicing our manager search is the media and Dave Whelan. The owners have kept all business behind doors.

Asking a clubs owners for permission to speak to their manager is out of respect and is the right way to do it in my opinion

That Guardian report had NO quotes in it.....as opposed to the earlier reporting on the Rodgers to Liverpool stuff where Swansea confirmed the following

A Swansea statement said: "The club is pleased to confirm that Brendan has declined the opportunity to speak about the vacant position."

He turned you down....get over it.

So what?

The media have passed on comment on what they generally consider to be a rather bizarre way of going about it & Whelan has been talking about a man he currently employs.
