RVP's Wife and Mother

Althougth there is huge speculation about robins future, it cannot be underestimated the input his family have on his future.

His wife wants him to stay, even mentioning that arsenal have been good to robin through his lean times, which we have. He's the main man at the club and he likes that.

For me, it's all about ambition and quality with robin. He wants to win trophies and he knows quality players are needed for that. If he is holding out on the contract to see if arsenal show ambition, then I think we all understand. It is now down to the board to show robin, and us, that ambition. That the move to the emirates was to compete on the highest level by attracting the top players.

Another quality signing pre-euro would be ideal, if the M'vila deal does come off then it looks like we've taken a step in the right direction. Tieing down theo and song is also a must, as well as a creative midfielder.

With the return of wilshere and a few other players we should have a solid squad ready to compete.

However I fear we may have missed the boat, Chelseas poor performance 2010 to 2011 was our best chance to win, and this season they were awful. Now we are competing with a wounded united, a jubilant city and a rejuvenated Chelsea.

Going to be a tough season...

Yes, but when the going get tough, the tough get going. And I'm confident that we've got a lot more steel than we used to.

But you're right, we need new signings to compete.

Most definietly, If the season has taught us anything, its that we can perform when our backs to the wall. Unfortunately it's usually taken us to go a goal or two down before we start performing, and we havent always come back from it, ie: Wigan at home.

We also desperately need to learn the ability to close a game out/kill a game off. Either by scoring 4 or 5 or learning how to defend as a team. Hopefully bould can help with this.

I'd like to see us fully use the German style, it suits us the best.

Also his wife and Mum both mention that Arsenal stuck by him and he must repay the faith they had in him. Also his wife and kids love London too much and are settled....(wifes words)

I know its the Sun but it has now started to believe he may stay...I have almost convinced myself he was gone...but now.... who knows....

I'm sure it was just that they'd sit down and talk about it - rvp knows as well as anyone that these things are never sorted out straight away, so i can't imagine he would state it would or wouldn't be done at a certain time.

i think the only way he'll sign a new deal is if the club can guarante him that they r going to sign a few world class players and challenge for trophys next season, and r they willing to do that for him im not so sure.

“Arsenal showed faith in Robin when he was going through a lean time, so we should not repay them by thinking about other clubs.

Am sorry Bouchra but footballers of these days don't ever seem to remember such things. I hate to sound like an absolute cynic but it is just the truth. Thanks for reminding him that anyway.
