How is the defence weak?

You need to replace terry aswell

the only problem with our defence is consistency throughout the season when they are on their game as demonstrated against Barca and Bayern they are as good as any defence in the world.

We had people missing in defence throughout the whole season which meant Bosingwa had to play too often

Terry is too slow and has been torn apart by pacy strikers throughout the season.

Luiz, as much as i rate him, doesnt fit in with Chelsea's defensive style. Also drawing him away from his position is very easy.

Also Cole needs replacing. I know he played well in the final but he hasnt been at his best and you see the pace that he once had diminish. So maybe supplement his attacking contribution for a more solid defensive play and he'll be alright.

Why do Chelsea fans keep saying this. Your whole team defended for majority of those matches. It wasnt just 4 people. The defence was helped massively by the other 5 players

Fred - Man marking the three behind Torres would allow him way too much space to operate in. Balls over the top from defence

i admit this but you are somewhat diminishing the individual displays of players like ivanovic, luiz and cahill who were all excellent and none of whom i think need replacing. Luiz has come on leaps and bounds in terms of discipline and positioning, i want to see that hard work thrown away because they are afraid he may be eccentric from time to time

Give me the pacy Strikers who've torn Terry apart this season? Would be interested to hear them.

Luiz has been our best defender at times this season and he's fitted in well as he can make those passes from deep into the forwards.

We've got Bertrand to replace Cole too

But Terry and Luiz more often than not, doesnt work because Terry is too slow.

Dont get me wrong, im not knocking Luiz. I think he is the best defender at Chelsea but him and Terry together is not a very viable option to go with.

chelseamf u cant play with two holding midfielders who are quite small in size. so i wouldnt play Ramires and Banega and also they both like to go foward

Cole was off his best for a few months (although never dire), but he's been back to his best for some time now, not just a good final.

He may not be the undisputed best left back in the world he once was (although I struggle to think of who’s better) but he is still the best in the PL. People just really want to write him off so jumped on the chance when his form dipped for a while. He’s bounced back and is still only 31 so hardly past it.

Most of those that write him off would love to have a player of his quality at LB.

Yet Terry and Luiz- particularly in terms of win percentage- is by far our most succesful pairing over the last 18 months.

Terry's pace isn't an issue at all, he's never been quick (so doesn't have to adapt his game e.g. Rio), and very rarely gets caught out by fast strikers. A CB partner who is fast helps, but is not essential. Alex wasn't exactly quick either but they had a great partnership

I still wanna see Luiz experimented further up the field, not because he 'can't defend', but because I think Cahill and JT should be our first choice CB partnership and he's just too good to be left out of the starting 11.

Any team is beatable.

Mikel can be a little too negative at times with the passing back rather than forwards. I would like to see Cahill in place of Luiz and slot Luiz in Mikels holding role.
Cover for the back four and pace and vision going forwards. Didnt he play as a DM before joining us?.

Luiz has always played CB. It's he opposite - whenever played uot of position thus far he hasn't done so well

Yes you can as Banega is quite stocky he will be able to hold his own alongside Ramires.
The tandem between Mata and Banega at Valencia was just simply magically(Make It happen Roman)
Banega is disclipined enough to know that when Ramires maurades forward,he will have to maintain position.
