Steve Gerrard's skidmarks

Oh dear.

And yet, I find myself

Well i suppose all fans start the season with renewed optimism, but i struggle to see where they get it from.

Even Alan Hansen has stopped saying "this year will be their year" on MOTD......so you know things are bad

They don't call liverpool fans deluded for nothing.

its reminicent of United in the 80's , I thought every year we had a chance of winning the league, but of course it never came.

LFC fans aren't alone in being deluded though. Gooners are, too.

yes it is. it happens every year, they're full of hope, and then it is cruched anywhen from christmas to april (excluding cup competitions).

do they ever learn? no.

LFC fans are just plain delusional.

By splashing out millions on average players, they have fooled everyone (including themselves) into thinking they are actually going to do something this season. They will finish 5th at best if you ask me

I have a feeling King Kenny will be gone by this time next year.

What's wrong with having hope for your team that didn't win the league the year before?

Things change in football, if everything always happened as they 'have done before' then Preston North End would have won the league for the last 118 years or so!

It's all going to end in tears there, just as it did at Newcastle witj Keegan and Shearer.

Despite splashing out a near £60m on midfielders over the last 12 months or so, as ever they will still be totally reliant on Gerrard if they are to do anything this season, with Torres gone, if OJ Gerrard isn't fit for the start of the season then Suarez will have to single handedly carry that team.

They've spent huge amounts yet invested nothing in the area that needs addressing most. That defence will be taken to the cleaners next season and I for one can't wait

Do you know this for sure?

If so, then i imagine you must be in a position to speak from, i.e. a football manager at the highest level, or at least a fortune-teller at the highest level

Or is this just your opinion? If it is just your opinion then you do realise that it may/could be faulted and indeed is not fact!

Do you understand this?

Do mancs here actually know Kenny Dalglish is now LFC manager?
He's never finished below 3rd after starting a season from the beginning.

Even with promoted teams, he plays to win. Now lets wait for next season.

A few weeks ago I thought Liverpool might finish as high as second next season. But to be honest I haven't impressed by their recent signings, and their reputed targets aren't going to strike fear into anyone either.

I still reckon they'll finish top four though. We'll see.

Why?
Because we haven't performed very well for 20 years?
WOW

Yes, because you've set quite a precedent

Do you think that Preston North End should have won the league for the last 120 years? I imagine you don't, why is that?

Is it cos you believe that things don't always work out as in previous years? I imagine that you think this way, with this in mind, are you sure that United will finish above City or Liverpool this year? If so, what are you basing this on? Past form? Precedents? How can you be so sure?

Or is it just a guess?

probably the fact that United won the league by 9 points and have since strengthened and are the favourites to win the league by a country mile in every bookmakers in the country.

Exactly that was last year. Based on your judgement we would've won the league 91, 92, etc....

Doesn't work like that!!

1990 was the last hurrah of a declining Liverpool side, you can't compare it.

But if you want a punt you can get 11-1 on LIverpool winning the league.

"robably the fact that United won the league by 9 points and have since strengthened and are the favourites to win the league by a country mile in every bookmakers in the country."

Oh sorry, i didnt realise the 2011-12 season was finished cos of the bookies odds!!!

I had a bet today, i backed a 9-1 outsider, it was fancied by the bookies as the 7th favourite...there was a horse that had won its last race that was even money favourite....because it had won its last few races...guess what?

Exactly, I won, the 9-1 shot came in, the bookies got it wrong! Every bookmaker in the country had the favourite to win by a 'country mile'! It didn't!

What I am saying is, don't put your faith in the bookies, yes United have a favourites chance, but hey...if we were all to just go along with that then we might as well all stop chatting and hand United the trophy now, favourites lose a lot of the time mate...Cheers!
