im sitting looking out at the flags of our union in my garden as I type
as for Englands chances they are as slim as they have ever been in a major competition
If they are to get anywhere then Gerrard has to stay fit and when Rooney comes in he has to play at his top Man U form.
at best though its a semi final defeat at worst they may not get out the group

Who will be the scapegoat this time I wonder..
We're not cursed, we're crap...
i will be amazed if we get out of the group stage to be honest.
France could batter us,Ukraine is gonna be extremely tough and Sweden are no mugs either.
having said that, if we DO progress from the group i fully expect us to win the competition outright.
Mr Bassett, we are one of the top teams
We've just been unlucky in pen shootouts and dodgy refs

Even if by some miracle we get out of the group, we'll either face spain or italy and we'll be home.
Fred, Spain have been found out and are not that good really. Italy might be tougher.
spain should still have enough to get all the way not quite as good as they were though
Fred, i thought we could face Ireland, if the do the business of course?
We could but they won't beat Croatia let alone Spain or Italy.

i wouldnt bet on that Fred. i think they might just get something against Croatia, and Italy are not unbeatable.
Spain obviously will be a huge ask though.
Yes Italy and Croatia might be beatable but Ireland are one of the weakest teams going!
i think they will step up for this one Fred.you dont have to be the best team to win, i mean, look at Chelsea.
Spain are traditionally p iss poor in these competitions, very recent history aside.
i think we have to face facts here,
Germany will win.

That's true but I honestly think they've as much chance in the Euros as Otelul Galati did of winning the CL last season...

Very recent history meaning the last five years and the current generation of players who have been virtually unbeatable in competitive matches.
i would be more surprised if we ( England ) made it out of our group as opposed to Ireland getting out of theirs.
I think 'found out' is a bit harsh however as seen with Barca this season teams are learning how to play them.
I would still have them as favorites (and even went for them in the sweep) but Im not as confident as I would have been a year ago.
