I'd say on the rangers board we have about half the old people on here. Pretty sure most of the people not on here are on not606...maybe some 'come to ja' posts are needed over there.

Please do not spam the other forums, as we know how irritating that feels. I am sure most people are now probably aware our site is back up and running.

didn't expect they would last very long anyway. Lol

Aha! An Administrator on the line! This is my chance to ask why I have not been allowed to use the following words:

graceful
gracefully

I cannot fathom your logic, especially as you did on the other hand let me say 'plonker'.

Even if you delete this post for its unashamed use of the word "graceful", DO PLEASE EXPLAIN.

You didn't delete it! What gives, JA606?

What is the story with graceful. was it somehow in our banned word list? or did we delete a comment with it in it?

Admin
Thanks for replying.

As I recall, the whole of my post read "A graceful apology, gracefully accepted". This was not accepted by the site. It was maybe a month ago.

I am not alone in also having had rejected use of the word "m*nkey", which I see from trying to send this present message is still verboten. This is no less baffling: are there any other animal types which the site deems to be somehow beyond the pale?

This is the language of Shakespeare and Dickens you are mucking about with, guys, and making yourselves look a bit silly in the process.

For all that, it's a good site, well done.

Umm i deserted in the desert but came back as soon as it went on line

I suspect, Malling, that the word 'm*nkey' is banned for its potentially racial connotations. Sometimes, I do truly think it's a completely mad world we live in nowadays! Gorilla, chimp and ape and symian appear to be acceptable alternatives to the site however.

I fear you are right, ThisisMadness.

And it means that a minority of cretins are - with the implicit acceptance of the Moderators - dictating to the rest of us the language we are allowed to use. This makes it even worse. I am very much opposed to the use of abusive language on such sites as these, but there has to be common sense in handling it. Banning the use, at all times, of what are in themselves perfectly neutral terms is not the answer. Context is all.

We had a very bad evening(at 2am) with that word and the site went mental! I agree a minority of bad users should not dictate what is an isn't acceptable but we hope that people have an understanding of our policy and search for another term. There are only 400 words in the banned word list but plenty more in the English language.

I don't give a m*nkey's if I can't use the word m*nkey.

Admin 1
Well, okay. We'll give you "m*nkey", if you let us have "gr*ceful".

I didn't change anything. Strange indeed.

That's what happens when you are drunk on a forum Malling. Your gracial abuse won't get through the net!
