.. have to admit only spain scare me .. we will be harder to beat under roy and we are long over due a little luck in a Tournament but im happy thinking we are no hopers.. the pain wont be so bad then

Why are the only people commenting bitter j ocks? Seriously guys, this is for teams in the competition only. We know you are bitter you aren't there but dont our board.

I agree with you on Germany being overrated. But I don't see you beating them.

im not a bitter jock, the hoops in my name reffer to QPR.

im fully behind this England team, as always, however i think its going to be extremely tough for us.

I'm not a bitter jock.

Why do you assume we all hate England? It's a bit stereotypical is it not?

Too early to say after 1 game. Are we going to start saying England are favourites if they beat France 1-0 from sitting back for most of it?

Ivan,

i think its fair to say that the majority of Scottish people want England to fail, is it not?

posted on 9/6/12

after going to scotland and working with a few i can say that most of you do hate us, sad but true

posted on 9/6/12

ad hoops, you are probably right in that assumption but to call me a "bitter jock" is a bit harsh.

The OP has no idea what my views are on England and the English national football team so shouldn't rush to any conclusions about my bitterness or lack of.

posted on 9/6/12

Look...Scottish people don't "hate" English people. That's utter nonsense.

Scottish people have a strong disliking of the English media and enjoy seeing the English football team especially lose. But to say that we "hate" the English is nowhere near accurate.

Ivan,

i didnt call you a bitter jock bud.

I can't say I blame Scotland. If they were the ones going to tournaments all the time and we stayed at home I'd begin to feel resentment.

ad hoops, I meant the OP, not you. I know you wouldn't do that. You're a decent guy.

Spurtle2 - it's not about that at all. We know our place on the foodchain and the fact is we don't qualify for a reason. We're stinking and our development of kids is awful.

We dislike the media down there ramming it in our faces and we dislike the perceived arogance that comes from the media that all you need to do is turn up to win (I know the average man on the street doesn't think that, but that's not how it's presented).

Ivan.. one of my best friends is scotish and a great guy but a bit of a nutter.. but he has family and friends in scotland, when he went home he got so much stick in a pub watching a England game as he said he wanted us to win as he lives in our country .. he was the only one mind

posted on 9/6/12

I've never really understood the Scots attitude to England regarding football. As a patriotic Englishman I naturally want England to do well, but I always want the home nations and Messiah's crew to do well as long as they're not playing us

posted on 9/6/12

To be fair, I rarely watch England games and hope you win

But I'll ask....do you ever sit in the pub and hope for Arsenal to win? Because to us it's the same thing. You might not feel the rivalry with us anymore, but we still feel it with you.

posted on 9/6/12

Ivan,

dont get me wrong mate, i love the banter and rivalry between our two countries, just dont like it when it turns sour.( that goes for either side )

posted on 9/6/12

ad hoops

Totally agree mate. It should be a friendly rivalry. Nothing more.

Anyone but France.................................

Or the Germans of course.

Ivan - That's understandable, as long as you realise a lot of us England fans hate that too.

Germany seem horribly efficient at grinding out results

also, looking at the quality of the German team-realistically the only players we have who'd get anywhere near their starting elevn are rooney and cole

we have more chance of this coaltion enacting a half sensible policy than we do of England winning this tournament
