Scott Parker huffed and puffed, his face got redder and redder....but what does he offer? Nothing.
_________
It was a decent performance
It was a solid defensive performance but not one that wins you tournaments (unless you fluke it on a silver goal like Greece )
To be honest I think thats exacty the kind of performance that can win you tournaments.
Surprised by the tactics from a team with all their players playing in the Best League in the World, thought they would have had more flair and attacking threat.
England and flair aren't necessarily two words I'd put together in the same sentence
It's the first competitive game under a new manager with quite a few new faces in, if you expected a team of world beaters, you're supporting the wrong team
As for townshend and the other guy, glad I missed the game tbh, been really cheesed off with commentators and pundits. I've been slightly more surprised since hodgson arrived though, the press haven't been hounding the team particularly, couple of hissy fits over Rio but that's about it.
I'm actually warming to Roy, I think he's handled himself well. I like that he's choosing his players, not listening to everyone else and getting on with it. I don't care whether he chooses 6 LFC players or 6 from any other team, as long as he's making the decisions and not the newspapers/twitterati.
When you realise that in the 2nd half France just pressed onto the England players and they basically fell apart, unable to create many chances then it's clear we shouldn't be bigging England up just yet. We have to be able to play under pressure.
Rodgers will show us how to play proper footy in a few weeks when the boys are back training. Can't wait
Here we go,more bullsh-it by the reds.I thought Parker did what he was there for, block shots and tackle.I didn't think the Liverpool players did anything special, but I don't see you having a pop at them.
I am not childish enough to turn this into a Liverpool players vs anybody elses players. However, I thought Johnson, Gerrard and Henderson when he came on were the best players on the pitch.
It was a turgid, unisoring but resolute performance we won't get beat in the group but we won't win and 3 draws will see us sent home packing after 3 games.
Bungee
Totally agree about this not becoming a Liverpool players vs the rest. Gerrard and Johnson had a good game. Henderson didn't really do a lot, but he was only on for 15 minutes. The Ox looked good and had a decent touch about him. Welbeck also had a good match.
Stocky
Take your blue tinted glasses off, and try to give an honest objective view. It's about England players, not players from this club, or that club.
Bungee.
Gerrard should not and cannot play as part of a 2 man central midfield. To get the best from Steve he needs to be cut free from the defensive responsibilities he was shackled to this evening.
I was joking about Henderson. He did OK like all of them. What irks me is people going on and on about OK standard players and banging on how good they are cos they make a block. (OK I admit it was a good block but come on). I just want a bit more from my central midfielder. That's all.
Babel
As a Liverpool fan I agree. Gerrard and one other in a two man midfield never works. More so in the fiddly, intricate, heavily packed midfields you see in these tournaments.
I thought Andy Townsend wasn't too bad, but I have to say, his co-commentator, Alan Partidge was brilliant! The best two England players on the park? Welbeck and Terry. JimmyTheRed

Is that Pete Townshend from The Who?

I am,no player stood out. Liverpool players didn't do anything special nor did anyone else. Typical boring England,we should of took one Adam Johnson,or Lennon.
