so the leeds players infringing arent spoiling it for u???
Totally agree. Leeds deserve to be behind, but that decision was a shocked. Both Sinfield and Dealany were impeded. Said it before, Childs is useless.
When they are they have rightly been pulled up, but some of the decisions such as the Ablett involuntary tackle and that try were poor, this guy aint up to SL speed.
Do you think he is good?
i think all the refs are doing a grand job yeah.
they r of course human and make mistakes.
players are also human and they make mistakes.
do you expect refs to be perfect?? that would be a little unreasonable unless u expect the same from players too.
I expect them to use the technology and linesmen as available.
I also expect them to be continually assessed for performance as coaches do players and dropped if not performing, as are players.
Sadly Childs has more bad games than good and does not seem to have any come back, unlike a player.
maybe cummins doesnt agree with ur assessment??
i see players have bad games regular and they play week after week.
Cummins was a good ref and obviously has a paucity of talent available to him sadly.
That was a very good try from Leeds well run, but the wingers white boots got them that
see, swings an roundabouts.
Be good to see Catalan do well this year and shake up the game with a trophy, Leeds are a done team these days, too many pensioners.
catalan winning the grand final would be the bext thing that has happened to rugby league since switching to summer rugby.
yes and on this form they surely have a good chance, rather them than Warrington
I agree with Senor Cheese, in that ref's are only human.
But it does appear Mr Child is 'more human' than most. (He wouldn't last 3 games in the NRL)
I guess we must have a serious shortage of top shelf officials if Mr Super-human is allowed to carry on every week constantly under-performing?
Well done to th'Dragons btw. I agree, it'd be great to see 'em take some silverware this year.
same shortage applies to players, some of them are robbing a living. why r folk not bashing the phukk out of them too??
the linesmen are just has bad 2 times one of the linesmen missed what was in front of him he must be blind

i dont see even a tiny amount of criticism of players as i do of refs.
not even remotely.
i see ref bashing threads every week on forums.
as it is, the refs have a meet and discuss their weekends games. that includes the errors they made as well as the good stuff. now i dont see why that should be made public.
the mistakes by refs are tiny when compared to those by players. we would be here all night listing the errors made by leeds players tonight and there ref made what, 5 or 6??
Haha. We clearly disagree on this one - which is fine.
Not having a pop, but maybe, because of you lack (for want of a better word) of allegiance to one team and your remote location you aren't exposed to it? Believe me, there will be PLENTY of people, in the pubs and houses of Leeds, ripping into the Rhinos team tonight! The Papers will write of their poor performance tomorrow too.
An aside; I was at a BBQ last night and had several Rhinos based conversations. The topics ranged from ageing players, the academy, potential signings, tactics, to the coaching staff. There was quite a lot of "so-and-so is cr4p and needs to go" and quite a lot of sighing and frowning. lol.
Not once were refs mentioned.
I agree, ref-related threads are quite prolific! I guess this just shows the level of frustration people have with the current set-up at Red Hall. I personally think the RFL need to do more than have a referees' group hug every monday. They are full time now and need to be accountable. If a ref is consistently poor, he should be dropped. Just my opinion like.
we can disagree, nowt wrong with that. but maybe one reason u had so many convos on different aspects of leeds etc was that it was all leeds fans and having a bith about the refs woulda soon worn thin???
preaching to the converted maybe??
im on another forum right now and the ref has been given a bigger bashing that the players. one poster has even stated he understands that players break the rules and give away penalties because they get frustrated with the ref making decisions they dont agree with.!!!!! the poor loves.
and why should the refs be accountable to the fans?? they are accountable to the guy employed by the RFL to hold them to account. i find that an odd thing, that fans, and it applies in a lot of sports, feel they somehow deserve to know the inner workings of their chosen sport. not sure why they feel that way.
We have a radio station down under that gets the referee's boss Harrigan on every Monday evening and for 15-minutes or so they go through all the weekends games and discuss all issues of events that we as the public bring up.......it is great because you might be thinking along the lines of how come a certain try was disallowed and when it is explained to you from a referee's point, it makes sense and you end up changing your opinion........
I'm sure you lads would be better off understanding some of the decisions if you had something similar to help your judgement.
The good thing about Harrigan is he is not scared to admit wrong doing and apoligises for the mistake and moves on, it makes the mistake easier to swallow when you hear an apoligy as well, after all we are all human....aren't we.
LL, Childs did okay for mine or was he awarding penalities to cats when they was no infringement, didnt look like that to me, looked like an ill disciplined leeds team who are becomning increasingly frustrated and completely lacking any respect for the man in the middle, didnt think any of those penalities wasnt warranted
might be mistaken but that ruck try, didnt that go the video ref?
I think I must have missed the bit where it was a tight game but, that apart, i agree with the sentiments expressed re. Mr Childs and his inability to exert the necessary control. I think his assistants should cop for some blame as well. However we do seem to have a shortage of available, and capable, refs and they all have to gain experience somehow. In mitigation I think that several Leeds players did their reputations no great service as they became an indisciplined rabble and contributed to the general malaise. Maybe Childs needs to use the red card to show he means business. The players were taking the pee.
I think the England rugby league should put in place a campaign to bring more players into the refereeing ranks, whether it be retired players or even better for the sake of youth the players that don't quite make the top level but have had 15 years as a player from the junior level up.
It takes a good 5 years of refereeing before they would even get close to a top grade game with all the different levels they have to pass, but at the end of the day we will end up with á man in the middle who has been there and done that......just an opinion..
great idea Souths, but will never happen not enough cash in reffing to attract the ex players, running a pub is a lot easier......
