Agree with everything you say Germany look lethal..
One thing overlooked in the country always seems to be the bundesliga. The media mention the English and Spanish leagues with such high esteem but never acknowledge Germany even though their national team is constantly one of the best and they have a very strong league with many good teams...
As good as the Spanish are when you think about their squad, I've got a feeling that the Germans will prevail. Their squad might be marginally worse and their defence could be called suspect but I just think they have a bit more variety to their play.

Agree totally with your views on the Bundesliga. I personally find it the most enjoyable to watch and the quality has definitely improved over the last couple of seasons.
It has a mix of the Premier Leagues pace and excitement but I think the technical ability on display is nearer La Liga/Serie A.

Exactly mate and if you notice according to our media it pretty much doesn't exist...?? Gets no attention at all? When in reality it is a very strong competitive league with a lot of top players in it...
Suarez_7 (U4199)
Agreed. The UK media is so focussed on broadcasting the view that the Premier League is 'The Best League in the World' (TM) that it forgets about other, more technical leagues.
The calibre of players in the Bundesliga is proof itself of the leagues quality. Robben, Ribery, Gomez, Schweinsteiger, Kroos, Neuer, Kagawa, Huntelaar, Lewandowski, Gotze, Raul, Jurado, Ozil, Podolski have all played or been produced in the Bundesliga quite recently.
Exactly you could in fact say without Manchester City's galactico approach the German league is even on par with the Premiership, all we have heard all season is Van Persie is the best striker in the world this season ect... I would say Gomez is better personally....
I'm still not sure about Gomez to be honest. He has flashes of brilliance but his finishing can be very inconsistent at times (great performance against the Dutch though!)
I would say that the Bundesliga is at least on a par with the Premier League. Especially when you consider the very poor quality exhibited last season (even by the so-called top sides).
Exactly Liverpool flew the flag for poor quality to a tee the English league will be strong next season I expect Chelsea to spend a fair bit more and City to strengthen further...
No sure where it leaves the rest though, Manchester United seem to be struggling to get their first choice targets and the rest seem to be a fair bit behind, them and City I can only really see Chelsea making ground on them...
Who knows though we might get a few shocks this summer...
Yeh he can sometimes be inconsistent but he is defiantly a class player and we have also saw in the last month that Van Persie can be inconsistent as well...
I am not convinced by neither Spain or Germany...against Italy Spain was rather fortunate to finish with a draw, as they only came into the game in the latter stages of the halfs and a flash early in the 2nd half. Today they played a Irish team that most half decent sides would punish. I would reserve the favorites tag until when they actually play like they did tonight against quality opposition. Germany on the other hand is a little overhyped for me. They struggled to break down Portugal and with a little luck could have even lost that game. Against Netherlands they improved but it struk me that they did just enough to get by. I hear ESPN heralding their victory over the Dutch as a convincing win, but I felt they are yet to be convincing. How much of the games is about Germany/ Spain living up to the hype than their opponents playing poorly?
Gomez stat for everyone.
He's only had the ball for a total of 22 seconds in the Euros and has 2 goals or 3...im not sure now. Clinical!
Spain the far better side. When they turn it on, they turn it on. I don't think Germany have been that good to be honest. Portugal were poor against them and Holland didn't even look like they wanted to win the game, apart from a brief five minute spell after they got the goal.
Spain aren't even out of second gear yet.
I really think England have a chance of going far in this competition and I think they'll prove that tonight.
I have been more impressed with Germany so far.
I think Spain are missing Villa, they are not as incisive as in 2008.
In 2010 that relied on the odd goal and clean sheets, and I am not sure that without Puyol they are capable of the clean sheets.
I think this small loss in both boxes, added to Germany being hungry to win a tournament and now more experienced (though still young), will tip it the Germans way.
Italy are the next best for me so far. Russia potential semi-finalists, and Holland a dark horse if they manage to get out of the group.
Can't see a winner anywhere else unless France turn it on today.
I think Spain will win it, they simply have the best players who play a style of football that suits them. The depth of their squad is phenomenal.
The German's look fantastic, but like any other team in the world they will struggle for possession against the Spanish.
I think Spain have bigger game changers off the bench if needed.
Their bench is stupidly strong, the likes of Martinez, Fabregas, Mata, Llorente, Negredo, Jesus Navas etc.
Plus have the Irish justb ruined it by giving Fernado some confidence??
How much of the games is about Germany/ Spain living up to the hype than their opponents playing poorly?

They've consistently been pretty much the best two teams in Europe, if not the world, for the past 4 years.
that would add up to a remarkable number of poor performances from their opponents.
That said though, I agree Spain don't look incisive enough, and seem to need to create 3 times as many chances as other teams in order to score the same number of goals.
I'd agree Germany a bit fortunate against Portugal (who, once again at a big tournament, are letting themselves down by not playing more expansively), but they were fully in charge vs the Dutch and, most importantly of all, show that they don't need all that much to score a goal. They deploy very quickly in attack and play some good one-touch footy without losing their shape too much. Still thefavourites imo.
Spain always make Germany look ordinary. If they meet it'll be the same story.
Did you even think about that comment, mate?
Germany have won the world cup 3 times. Spain have won it once. Historically Germany have always been the better side so when you say "Spain always make Germany look ordinary" you're referring to two very tight games in 2010 and 2008 that both finished 1-0.
Germany are a much better side now than they were in 2010 and Spain without Villa just aren't as good.
Ozil has hit form if you ask me. Germany very impressive with good players in every position and they all can defend too, pressuring the opposition all the time. Good if slightly annoying to watch.
