i agree technically sweden and england are on the same level.
But england have smarter better players. Its just the actual ability on the ball is similar.

Wound me up that.
Average sweden
lawro said the same too
it beggers belief that pundits STILL belittle England's opposition. I just dont get it.
Sweden are on England's level. imo.
Think Lineker or Lawro said ''You know its bad when (whoever scored the second goal) scores against you'', or something along those lines.
I thought what? These are players who have helped a team qualify for a European Championship, they can't be that bad.

If a few of thoswe Swedish players were a bit younger, they would've held out and perharps tonked England.
No offence, but sweden have always been an "AVERAGE" well organised team.
They have no skill level whatsoever, and pretty much stay in formation right throughout a match. They've been doing it for years, yet England have never mastered a result against them.
Sweden = a ford car when it comes to the bigger picture. Reliable but hardly oozes class and panache.
Totally agree. Typical English arrogance.
The most realistic thing that was said tonight, came in about the last 10 seconds of the show, where Hansen said ''this England team are a long, long, long way off any of the top teams''
You're in a sweet position, and if I'm being honest, it's not the English team that is the neutrals gripe, but every aspect of the media who hype it stupidly and nearly sound relieved when the crash comes.

That's not the point, while we agree Sweden are average, the pundits could have been a bit more impartial and highlighted how 'average' England are at the moment. No mention of that though, only mentions of qualifying the group already

The worse for me, was when the players were in the tunnel before the France-England game, and Lawrenson (I think it was), said Joe Hart was the best keeper at the tournament with neuer the only one who can rival him
He said Buffon has had his day and completely disregarded Casillas.
Now, dont get me wrong, but what exactly has Hart done to deserve such high praise? He's had a couple of good seasons for City (good, not great, he has been directly at fault for many goals) and thats it
Thing is, these pundits (Shearer, Hansen, Lawro, Lineker), spend all their time focusing on the Premier League and England, do they ever spend time to sit down and watch other games in different leagues? Judging by the rubbish they spout (like that mentioned in Smalling_Jones' last comment), you'd think not!

It was carragher who said about hart being the best goalkeeper in the competition.
I nearly fell off my seat!
Lawro commentates BBC played Roi
Beglin, ditto ITV played Roi
Townsend, ditto played Roi
And others
Why

Oh, my bad. Same difference though tbh, they all hype up our own players
Also, what is with the Ox Chamberlain loving? My god, everytime he finshed off with no end product (ahem, which was 95% of the time vs France), the commentator somehow manged to praise him
'Oh it was a nice idea'
'Unlucky that by Chamberlain, was excellent awareness'
'Strong run by Chamberlain, this boy is going to be a great player'
etc etc. Argghhh
I don't tend to mind other pundits that much, I know some are easy to dislike, but you could find people who would dislike any human being for being a pundit or commentator. Those clowns though on the BBC I'd rather tune out than listen to
See how they reacted when Hansen dared to say England were average too.
Glasgowgoonercelt,
you can just see the "english arrogance" oozing out of this thread, cant you?
I keep waiting for Hanson to scream "Freedom"
I think a lot people only hear what they want to hear so they can have a go. Sweden are average and I did not hear any real praise for the England team. They all summed it up at the end and agreed that England are far off from the better teams in the comp.
Too many bitter micks/jocks/taffs always looking for ways to have a dig at the English.
Lineker, shearer, Dixon, Southgate etc
