Yep, posted the exact same thing in an earlier article, this deal is definitely not right for Spurs even if were did want to sell him, the offer of £22m is pathetic.

Levy is right to stand his ground and I reckon 18 of the other PL teams will be happy to see us keep him.

To suggest modric is worth only 2m more than Henderson is laughable. But modric will be gone anyway but I have a horrible feeling baconface will bring him to the Trafford swamp

rat boy leaving will only be good for us,if we get top money for him,and he moves abroad.

sod it,i'd even take a hit on the fee to ensure he went abroad!

and as for a 'gentlemen's agreement' i can't imagine an agent or darth levy going for summat as daft as that.

get it written into your contract or pipe down rat boy!

and while i'm digging you out luka, use some of that money you got for signing a 6yr contract last year,to get your.....

RAILING'S seen too!

LadyLillywhite - Couldn't agree more.
Modric also said if a bigger club came in for him, so far only Chelsea have bid, so it rules out that then! (Richer does not mean bigger!)
It all seems to be in Modric's head (which has clearly been turned) that Spurs have to accept any offer for him just because he wants the move - sorry it doesn;t work like that.
Personally now I would sell him abroad even if it was for only £22 million, then he can go through the upheavel he is currently causing Spurs!

Levy is a ruthless business man, he does not make Gentleman's agreements.

I cannot believe Daniel would agree to this agreement either.

Luka says it has been broken. As far as I can see, that is not the case. The offer is not right for both parties. Therefore, the agreement is still in place. As for 22 million they are having a laugh

From all the comments made by Modric:

Levy & Club said they would look at any offer & if it was acceptable and right for BOTH parties they would discuss it!

Patently this offer was not right for Spurs in any shape or form, so no discussion required.

If the chavs had come into with a sensible offer of around £35m+ Drogba, then I think it would be worth discussing.

I also think that the sighting of Abramovich's super yacht off the coast of Croatia, in Dubrovnik last week, is slightly more than coincidental.

Take 16 mill and count yourselves lucky to get that much for a player who does no more than denilson or diaby does for us.

Why would Drogba leave Chelsea for a Europa league club?

posted on 11/7/11

Selling to a continental club for 22 million would be an excellent symbolic statement.

RDBD.................................................Agree with you on that!

Mr Chelsea, I think Drogba would love to do that, he is over 30 & down the pecking order at SB, however the service he would receive at Spurs would be ideal for him to score.,......................

This broken agreement is just laughable. The only party trying to break an agreement is the one who is wanting out of a 6yr contract, 1 year in. As if any player, or Chairman, of any club, in any league around the world, would put a verbal agreement in place - what a load of tosh!

And as a few people have already said, in what way is this deal suitable for us. We lose our best player, making one of our rivals stronger, for a fee that could barely buy an average midfielder in todays prices.

And as for Abramovich's yacht, of all the places to moor up, and it just so happens to be where Modric was having a holiday. If i was Levy, i'd look into getting CCTV for that area & take Chelsea to the cleaners. In saying that Abramovich probably had the cameras covered up or the tapes destroyed.

If there was such an agreement, then Levy has broken it.

It was not broken by turning down the 22M offer - which was blatently a p1ss take bid. But rather he broke the agreement by then stating publicly that "no offer would be considered for Modric".

Luka could read that as saying that if a 50M bid came in (good for Tottenham and Modric) it would be rejected. That is breaking the gentlemen's agreement.

I feel sorry for you guys, as a Rovers fan we see our better players always engineering moves away, or being snapped up by bigger clubs.

genius :

Drogba is a strong brute of a striker.
Which gives me a love/hate view of him.

I love the brute aspect.
But because of that, I hate it when he does his 2 and a half reverses with pike (he is strong enough to STAY ON HIS FEET ) .

rdbd

He does that to win freekicks in dangerous areas of the pitch and it works 99% of the time resulting in sometimes a goal or atleast a shot on target. He hasnt dived/feigned injury for a while and even when he did it was made into a bigger issue than if an english player dived. Nowhere near as bad as everyone made him out to be.

Mr Chelsea :

1. Tis *CHEATING* , period.

2. So "for a while" is licence to forget.
Bet there are plenty of crims who would like the same logic applied to their current punishments.

3. Introducing racially prejudicial claims into the assessment.
Class.

When the reality is :

Drogba is a bigger man than that. Literally. And I would like to see it in him in character too.

Genius we have no worries. Gervinho signed straight off the back of fabregas and nasri staying, do inform me how thats a problem?

posted on 11/7/11

Haha.

Dont lecture me about class

Everyone knows it, you donut. Foreigners get a hard time about diving in this country than English born players

Nice essay by the way. 10/10 for presentation. Shame the content was garbage.

"If there was such an agreement, then Levy has broken it."

If there was an agreement it would have been written down in the contract like every other player who has a release clause. There was no such agreement and no agent, player or chairman of a football club would be naivie enough to agree to a gentlemans agreement.

posted on 11/7/11

Mr Chelsea :

Spurs had for one season a player whose "diving" prowess/reputation makes Tom Daley soil his trunks.

I believe this player was called ... what was it .. Jurgen Klinsmann. Yet this guy did no such thing during his time at Spurs (apart from two very sarcastic goal celebrations) .

So, what do we have :

1. Foreign player
2. Notorious diver
3. Didn't do it at Spurs

Which means Klinsmann manned up, and got his act sorted on day 1.

And Drogba, well he hasn't done it in the PL "for a while" . And we're all complaining about it because he is "foreign" .

QED.

A gentlemans agreement would not be written down, but that does not mean one was not discussed.

I agree with you, it would be very naive if such a thing was discussed between Levy and Modric. I suspect it's just the player engineering a move.

We had a similar thing happen when the United took Jones. The number of players that cry out for a move less than 12 months after signing new long term contracts is disgraceful.

There must be a way to even up the contract playing field between player and club, becuase at present it's too biased in the players favour.
