tbh mitre i can see the merits. it's natural we don't want to give up anything but your clubs situation has given the other clubs some huge ammunition.
i'm old enough to remember coming back from pittodrie or tanadice with a point and thinking what a great result. it felt better, a real league where any of 4 possibly 5 teams could win it
it's boring now let's face it. celtic have a huge advantage in terms of revenue outwith gate receipts being shared compared to the other clubs, can't include rangers in that at the mo as feck knows how that will pan out,
so i say yep bring it on for the good of the game
I can see the merits also, although right now I do want every club to suffer a little cause they have all said bad things about us.
Seriously though, a bit more competition can only be better for the league.
How do they do it in the USA? I know they split lots of the revenue streams, but i dont know about gates.
We were just talking about this on another thread.
Think it will benefit the game as a whole.
Let's face it with the money in other leagues around the world the old firm will never seriously compete in Europe unless we start again and build a competitive league.
For sporting equality it seems like a good idea.
But this is only for our league.
The other leagues in Europe will have an even
bigger advantage over our clubs in the Champions League and The Europa League.
on another subject i'm being told by a mate who is almost always right about transfers that the hugo rodellega deal is almost complete for anyone interested.
please don't shoot me down if it's a pile e pash
and he also said that sky will honour the deal regardless.......
again don't shoot the messenger

Interesting
I think this is a great idea, we need to make our league competitive again and this could be the right way
To be honest the old firm have been ruling the roost for to long
"and he also said that sky will honour the deal regardless.......
again don't shoot the messenger"
Doubt that to be honest. Would be a crazy business decision.
Why pay for something, where you get a much lesser return, and you are free to re-negotaite the fee down?
it's the threat of subscription cancellations i reckon mate, not just celtic fans
Sky won't comment until a decision us made.they are wary of the criticism they receive for "controlling" football.
Timinator,
Cheers for the link. Think the headline is slightly more optamistic than the content though.
"'If Rangers are not in the SPL, that would change things for us, naturally. It would leave a quality hole in Scotland’s top division. Competition would deteriorate and, in that event, we would have to renegotiate."
Renegotiate = Slash the amount offered.
see what your clubs done mitre. many people around the country will remember this with much ire
Mitre i think that is obvious that they would renegotiate the deal but at least they are saying they are not going to pull the plug completely if Rangers are booted out like so many Rangers fans have been telling us they will.
'We believe that football should be run by the football authorities. We are a TV company'
Well they have the choice to vote rangers back in and then no damage done. Up to them really
spike why should they be voted back in. if it's for purely financial reasons then football is not the game i fell in love with
3rd div it has to be
For the record, I don't mind if its third division as long as their back playing football.
It might even still benefit the non old form teams as even a much reduced sky pot will be split equally. Be a hit to Celtics budget, but they will be able to cut and cope
'We believe that football should be run by the football authorities. We are a TV company'
Aye, cause they are gonna come out and say publicly "We are trying to force the football authorities into admitting Rangers for purely financial reasons and will bully them as much as needed with veilled threats about reducing the amount on offer."
I suppose you probably think that Lloyds applied no presure on Murray to sell to Whyte either?
Who is it that runs Sky again anyway? Its that nice old man from Australia right? I doubt he or anyone related to his firm have ever used any morally questionable tactics to achieve better revenue through their media streams
Apparently the Scottish rugby union get more money from sky than the spl, with a fraction of the subscriptions
Does anybody know how the Gate money is split in other leagues???
this should be a non starter. how can it happen? its like wh smiths sharing their profit with rs mccoll. i understand botth teams are playing but whats the point of spending money on better stadia? pure nonsense. there other ways of sharing cash, this is not it.
ally you come up with something then pal cos for me it worked best when the gates were divided
I think this used to happen Super Ally,
It would defo be open to a legal challenge, and would never stand up in court.
We know how going to the courts goes down though.
i would defo think it could be deemed illegal. tv money shared on a more equal basis. spl working harder with the sfa to get better sponsers etc, more money in the pot for winners 2nd 3rd place etc. maybe an additional money for goals rule.
