Fatjan they are the best two players in the world. They don't have the biggest rivalry in football no matter how good the teams are.
Rangers v Celtic, Boca v River Plate, Gala v Fener, Oly v Pana are all greater rivalries. Just clearing that up.
if you put messi in that portugal squad today m essi would do squat silch and you messi ass likers know that

Mate I did say arguably In Sky Sports' world it is the biggest rivallry in football. Just like in Sky Sports' world the Top 4 is the be all and end all.
I suppose, but the Welbeck/Carroll debate is more valid as they're competing for a spot in the same team.
It's just annoying that people have to try and use Messi's greatness as a stick to beat Ronaldo with.
I know some people do try and claim Ronaldo is better than Messi, but more often than not when ever there's a thread praising Ronaldo people come out criticising him, and claiming he's nowhere near Messi.
And it's usually Arsenal fans for some bizarre reason.
The two shouldn't be compared imo. Both great players, both totally different. Both have amazing skills in their own way. One is down to earth the other is a to55er.
I do think the whole Franco thing makes the Barca-Madrid rivalry massive though. It's not just about football.

What do you expect from those morons
True about Welbeck/Carroll
You can have great rivalry eg Real v Barca, I agree with the Catalan thing. However imo real rivalry comes when both in the same city. just my opinion. We may not have the best league, but rivalry in the UK no teams come close to ours. man Utd and City will come in the future though, but they don't have the religion political aspect as well. Not that most people care so much these days, but during the derbies we are all 90 min haters. It's hard to explain to an outsider.
I do get the city rivalry thing, and in that sense I think the rivalry is seen on a more day to day basis due to geography.
But when you factor everything into a rivalry it does make the Madrid-Barca one huge.
I think there is a lot more violence in the rivalries you've listed, dunno if that makes them bigger or not though. Newells Old Boys-Rosario Central is another very violent rivalry. My father lives in Argentina and tole me there was people shooting each other in the crowd at their match!
I've heard about how religion is adopted for 90 minutes only such is the fierce rivarly. I like a bit of rivalry, but some of it is all a bit crazy if you ask me.
I've lived in England. I was born in Govan where mR Ferguson was born, I moved to Doncaster at a young age and was brought up down south. I lived in London for years and nothing comes close to what nwe have up here.
All our newspapers are nothing, but Rangers and Celtic. We both go for the league every year. Our league is not the best. FFS I wouldn't say it is, but Rangers alone have 2 million fans in the UK. Celtic have a similar number. My best mate is a Celtic fan. The rivalry is mental and you can't understand until you live here.
In England the media is not as harsh on the teams. The only time it is is if England play. You have more than 2 big teams. The clubs with our fanbase is Man Utd, Arsenal and Liverpool, but two of them are not challenging. When it's in one city it's more.
I have family in Istanbul and I've been to Fenerbahce Games and it's mental. Sky and BBC hypes games up down south. Even Barca Real I always watch for the football, but it's not the same imo. It's probably more than what you get in England as you don't have two huge teams always going for the league.
I wasn't questioning the rivalry of the old firm. One of the biggest and definitely fiercest.
Sounds mental. But like I said, I do dislike when rivalry does takeover and there is fierce anamosity towards rivals. Football is just a game afterall.
IMO Messi is the best player in the world but some of the things I hear people discrediting Ronaldo with is pathetic. Flat track bully, arrogant, cheat, 1 dimensional, it's so boring. He is 2nd only to Messi but he is miles ahead of the rest. Give credit where due. People genuinely seem to be annoyed to see him play well. Why can't anybody just appreciate greatness when they see it?
My comment also goes to Ronaldo fanboys who for some reason always try to play down his talent and achievements just because Ronaldo hasn't matched them himself.
It is mental Darren, but as I said my best mate is a Celtic fan, so it's still seen as football. A lot of pubs are mixed with fans, you just have to be careful.
That's good then. It's toned down a lot has it not?
BBA, couldn't agree with you more.
It's less than it was, however it's still there in certain pubs and people tone it down due to company.

I'm tired of United fans trying to claim that Ronaldo's the more complete player and even some saying he's better.
==========
Ronaldo is the more complete player. Left foot, righ foot, heading, speed, strength, come on!
He's also taller
No one argues that he's more complete. However he isn't better!!!! He doesn't complete as many passes as Messi, he doesn't play as many key passes, doesn't get as many assists, doesn't have as accurate a shot, doesn't have anywhere near as good a shot to goal ratio and by and large gets outscored by the Argenetine aswell, in spite of probably having at least 3 times as many shots per season.
And Messi is equally as good on his right foot as Ronaldo is with his left and I'd be willing to bet that he scores more goals with his right than Ronaldo does with his left. Ronaldo may be two footed but his left isn't a patch on his right and is only used when absolutely necessary.
