NEARLY 10K A DAY INTEREST!
I would expect a damn sight more than £10k a day after tax never mind before from that sort of money
ONLY TELLING YOU WHAT I READ IN THE PAPERS.
£3.65million a year on £166million equates to only 2.2% APR interest.I'm sure you can get a better deal than that
Would that person who won (if they were an Everton fan) buy Bill's shares and possibly never see a return? Or earn a hell of a lot of money in interest alone.
Bet Bill wishes he let the club sink all those years ago and invested the money in the stock market!
Well I am glad he did invest
PJS surely you know by now it's because of Bill and his excessive demands on price that Roman and the sheikhs went elsewhere
I wouldn't oust Bill, because I dont know the first thing about running a football club. However, I would definitely invest a minimum of £100m. I would try and finance a new stadium with my investment.
money doesn't buy happiness, I would invest 150 million into Everton. Watching what Moyes could do with that money would be far more interesting to me than thinking about what yacht i was going to buy next. I would give all the 150 million to the club and not expect any back. You would leave a legacy and be the most popular man in Liverpool.
I would approach it as a business, I would buy a large plot of land in a popular area and build a few blocks of apartments which will generate rent (1000 apartments). That rent would then be used (after overheads) to buy players.
1000 x £650 = £650 000pm
£650 000 x 12months = £7.8m
Minus tax = £3.12m per year
that's treble transfer kitty a year than last, plus my wife would be happy because the appartments are ours and we can always reclaim the cash for them at a later date.
All for the cause baby!!!
In other words, I'd set up an outside business to finance transfers so the club can put the money into renovating the old lady or summint
A noble act when your future is secure. But would you be willing to mortgage your house to help the club?
With shares trading off Market at around a £1000 each you can work out how much the clus is worth. Would you buy into that?
Nice one IMWT!
PJS, the original question wasn't 'would you be willing to mortgage your house to help the club', but to answer your question, no I certainly wouldn't.
The scenario is that you've won £166m. Assuming you put your own house in order first, you're probably left with quite a lot. Nobility goes out the window. You're flusher than the pub toilet. More minted than an After Eight.
I wouldn't be working here any more so would concentrate my efforts on something I loved rather than something to pay the bills. I've already told the missus I'd want to invest in Everton 'when' we win (after I'd bought the mother-in-law's house, razed it to the ground and chucked the old witch onto the street )
Like IMWT, I'd want to try and create other revenues to go towards a transfer fund but I wouldn't be throwing cash at un-necessary transfers and ridiculous player wages. I've worked hard for my £166m . I'd help run it the frugal way, financially the Arsenal way, except I'd tell our players they're allowed to shoot now and then.
I also think the prospect of one large investor would attract others so a joint venture into a new stadium or a complete Goodison renovation wouldn't be too far away.
I'd have to insist on having my own space in the dugout though. Budge up Dave!
I'd sort my own life out and then ask BK what I could do for him.
"No , Bill I will not put £150M into StageCoach".
Seriously though, it would be nice to know you were going into business with someone who cared as much about the club as you do.
All I'd want in return is just to be around the club I love. Probably expect a box too. I'd even invite you guys in for a beer!
I had a similar discussion with missus who is a staunch red. She was pretty vocal on it in the end I won and money would be invested.
I would meet with shareholders and offer money in exchange for a rights issue. Thus diluting their holding. The money must be invested in playing squad. I would then loan the club money invest free to clear the existing debt. I would then work full time 24/7 to give bill a rest and find the billionaire we need.
Just a beer philsablue? I'd expect you to buy up all the hog dogs in town!
I had the exact same discussion with the missus when the jackpot got to £100million, she said no chance. Now at £166 million I've persuaded her that we should at least form a large part of a consortium. I'd keep Bill in place and trust DM with the reigns of the club.
It's obvious that last night's euro lottery machine has been tampered, as didn't win.
I blame BK.
Clearly he was on this board yesterday and saw that when I won I would be investing in the club. So he's cunningly dispatched his minions to sabotage the draw to prevent any investment so he can keep tight hold of the reins.
Damn you BK... DAMN YOU..!!!
He's bloody crafty, I'll give him that. Some would say an 'evil genius'.
His reach is widespread sabotaged mine also the evil genius. Lets hope the winner is a blue my missus argued with me again last night about investing in club so prob just as well. Her or the club.... I have loved the club longer so
