Roy Hodgson proved tonight that he's most definitely not the man for us - we don't need 20 year old hoofball tactics. 30 odd percent possession - how can you score if you don't even have the effing ball?
We really need to stop playing two in midfield and relying on wingers.
england haven't improved from capellos team, no matter how its sugar coated
We have no technically gifted players because youth footballers are picked on strength, power and pace in England.
roy has done well. i just think injuries has played a major part in how tired we were. if we could have played the likes of wilshere, lampard or carrick (even though he wasn't injured) gerrard and parker wouldn't have been so tired. if they weren't so tired we could have pressed them high up the pitch which was our original game plan for a longer duration.
i think that was as good as we could have got
We are just rubbish technically. Can't expect Roy to polish a t urd can we?
We haven't done amazing at all. We've been extremely lucky to get as far as we did. Our football has been terrible most of the time, and we've relied on the opposition letting us off the hook time and again. At least we've been spared the embarrassment of being annihilated by Germany.

It matters not, England will always tire if they play the way Roy plays; dont forget the premiership season is one of the toughest in Europe, so before a touro starts we are at a disadvantage add in this ridiculous idea of playing football "without" the ball and it points to failure.
I just feel sorry for Gerrard. What more can he do as captain?
Roy got it right, right up until tonight's game. He had to play five in midfield, in this game and even going with the 4-4-2, Carroll had to start. In the first 30 minutes England were doing well, getting the ball into the box and Carroll could have benefited from that, then Wellbeck's pace could have hurt Italy as players tired at the end.
Unfortunately Roy gambled on Rooney and Wellbeck's link up play with has worked well for United but with Rooney being massively off form and unfit, it was never going to work.
What were you saying about Terry at international level
I hope people see why we were fed up with Hodgson after 4/5 months. You cannot win anything if you spend the entire match chasing the ball.
Also, this should have answered the 'Rooney has to play' debate. Seriously what does he bring to the team? He hasn't really performed for the national team for years and yet we persevere with the hope that he's world class, and can produce a moment of genius. Well I'm sorry but he hasn't and doesn't look like doing so any-time soon. We can all hide behind the 'he's not match fit' excuse. But what we all forget is why he wasn't match fit. It was his petulance that put him in that situation.
Tactics was not good IMO. Should have played 3 in midfield but Roy never plays midfield of 3.
not actually that disappointed. we didn't disgrace ourselves and that performance was a million miles away from that South Africa shambles
we leave with our heads held high-when was the last time you can say that about England at a major tournament?

Wayne Rooney on the BBC website;
England striker Wayne Rooney: "We're gutted about it, people weren't expecting much this tournament but we've shown we are a good team. This experience will help the young players. I don't know why we can't win penalty shootouts, it's a hard way to go out and it's happened too many times now. There weren't that many chances in the game, apart from Balotelli at the start maybe, we defended well and hoped for a chance on the break."
What planet are you on Wayne? .
Got better, if only i could retrospectively use the same words to describe your football knowledge
