Tenez is not the only one to talk about conds. this is waht tmf to say about nadull's humilating defeat
"Federer said that while his opinion is nothing against Nadal on a personal level, it was good to see that upsets are still possible.
"I think 15 years ago you had matches like this so much more often on the faster surfaces, that a guy could catch fire and just run through you," Federer said. "Today it's virtually impossible because you make so many more returns these days and conditions are so much slower with the elements. Whereas it was just amazing to see that it was possible. Okay, he didn't play like that for five sets, but in the fifth it was just a joke. I was laughing because of his performance for 10 minutes after that. I couldn't believe that he pulled it off the way he did. Of course I do feel bad for Rafa because it's a tough loss; it's Wimbledon; it's the way things happen."
I was watching some shorts of the match and exactly like in Paris v Soderling, the crowd was largely for Rosol.
There is something that makes the crowd support the risk taker of the negative player even if at first they are not aware of it and would want Nadal to win. As the match goes on there is something in the vast majority that makes them support the gutsy player as opposed to the negative one.
There is hope in the human race!
tenez, I think that closed roof creates faster conds thus helping players like rosol and julien. Murray might have lost too if the match was played under closed roof.
I am glad to see all clay courter flopping here. The last left is Ferrer who should make an exit today.
Nadal used all his luck at RG with the draw, slower conds, timely rain delays etc.
Here it was poetic justice as delay helped Rosol more than it did to Nadal.

-----------------------------------------
The still conds more than the faster conds helped Rosol cause I don;t think it's significantly faster with a closed roof. However the still conds allow attacking players to take more risk and hit flatter and that is what speeds up the game.
However I don;t think still or faster conds woudl help Beneteau over Federer. That's a completely different matter which has more to do with Federer's poor form he has shown since Madrid's final really.

Fed's thoughts on closed roof. Tenez, I agree with you on the form but not sure about an injury with Fed. We have to keep in mind that even he is human and will take time to adjust to alien conditions (indoor grass).
How do you explain his sublime form in first two rounds? IMO Julien just played brilliant and I knew that he is capable of doing that.
If you remember then I did write in my earlier post that Julien has the game to take on to Nadaull, it is shame that they have not played agianst each other a lot. Somehow Nadal has played more matches against his compatriots Almugro, Verdasco, Ferrer, Lopez etc!

Always the same story wow. You are as good as your opponent let you look good.
There was not the usual pace in Federer's shots allowing Beneteau to be the agressor. That would never happen in the 10 years of watching Federer. It was obvious Federer lacked power in his shots and he started to play better after the toilet break (end of second set).
Anybody in the top 100 can look like the best player in the world if they are let to play their games. The thing is that those top players are playing in such a way that the rest can't play their best game against them.
As I said you are very likely to see today Rosol struggle more v Kholi than Nadal. Had beneteau won in 3 sets he would most likely have struggled as well v Malisse.
The reason he played well in the first 2 rounds was that he faced an overwhelmed opposition who played poorly on top. Federer was not stretched. But some of us noticed already then that his serve's pace was lower than usual. So there was not much to conclude from those 2 first matches.
My suggestion about a possible injury is more and more obvious I am afraid and yesterday confirmed it even more.
I also noted the piece where Fed said in his post match interview he often played with an injury but that's something he has ever admitted during a Slam....only after.
Fast conditions only help players who normally play fast and/or hit flat and ideally hard.
It will be interesting to see whether thry play with the roof on today. I reckon they will even if it soes not raim
I am pretty sure the roof will be open today.
I hope Bagdhatis will show up. I wish him another happy story. He does usually well on grass.
But what what has the AE up their sleeves in case it gets close for their tickets seller? stay tuned!

Baghdatis fav GS is Aus open. On Julien, he beat fed in the last meeting so verymuch capable of beating him. I did not watch the whole match but the 4th set and in that I found it to be toe to toe. Julien could have won it in 4.
I hope that there are no injury concerns for Fed and he wins his 17th. If not Fed then Murray. I dont think that Baghdatis has any change against Murray.
I hope that there are no injury concerns for Fed
------------
Fed says there aren't, some folk will always think they know better than Fed though and assume that he must be lying and have an injury.
Jonty, that's why I said, I hope
Injury seems to be a touchy issue for you
Not the injury, just Tenez's insistence that Fed is lying.
Tenez seems unable to accept that fed might actually be telling the truth and the fact that it's just age now catching up with Fed.
Jonty, although I agree with you but tenez does not say that Fed is lying, all he says that Fed is not admitting the injury concern.
tbh, I dont think that Fed is carrying an injury but u never know.
fed has been asked if he is injured, he has said no.
Fed is either lying or he's not, if Tenez insists he is injured (I have filtered him, so maybe you can confirm if he still insists this), then it's clear what Tenez is saying about Fed's truthfulness.
I also asked Tenez at the time if he was a tennis professional or a physic, he said no, yet thinks he knows better than the pros and physios.
Maybe he has and injury, maybe he hasn't but when Fed himself says he hasn't I kind of trust the guy, it's sad that Tenez doesn't, he seems to see conspiracies everywhere.
