I am really excited about Monday, can't wait, already experiencing tennis withdrawal symptoms
Nole and Fed should be no-brainers, just look at their H2H, 11:0 & 9:0 (or 1, can't remember).
As Murray played nothing special, Cilic has a chance. I saw him last Saturday and he, too looked nowhere near his best, so we'll see.
I'm sure Cilic will get plenty of advice from his compatriot Karlovic, esp regarding foot-faulting
As for Delpo, man, if he can't beat Ferrer on grass he sholud bang his head against the wall for the rest of the season!
It' about time he did something with that height of his and plow it into some serious serving and just blow Ferrer of the court.
Otherewise, he'll become what I suspected he has always been : a one slam wonder.
Bit harsh on the Big Man Nole - it took time for Murray to imporve after his wrist surgery and it is proving likewise for DP.
He is still only 24 and has 3-4 years to get back to his best before the inevitable declines set in. Agreed, the serve needs to improve a bit but the rest of the weapons are there. I saw him on Saturday and he looked ok..the weapons starting to look a bit more potent.
Ferrer is a tough one though and I can see him beating Murray again here as he did in Paris if he gets though.
Nadal recent defeats have shown the others the way (Rosl's perfromnce looks better every time I see it - best at Wimby for aons)
Along with Nole, JMDP, Murray and Tsonga (another underperfomer) should be able to step through more regularly as Fed continues to move closer to exit stage left..
How long are you giving him then?
Who... DP to win again or Fed to call it a day?
DP to win another one in the next 3-4 years.
No, I mean how long to recover from his wrist surgery , i.e. eliminate it as an excuse .
He missed pretty much all of 2010 and was rusty and mediocre last year. Some players adapt and improve faster than others after injury - there is no set time for a full recovery. Nadal was ropey for about a year after his knee problems...
Its not an excuse - recovering from an injury prevents top form being reached, the difference between competing for Majors and losing early doors. The margins are so thin..players don't really resort to excuses etc - its just the way it is and they acknowledge it as such.
Players such as Kraijeck probably never reached their full potential due to injury (he was awsome winning in 96).. and your man has only started to truly achieve his levels after sorting his diet (amongst other things) out.
A few quarters so far in GS's this year shows DP is starting to get back to form.
I don't expect anything much here but should be dangerous at FM and then a decent bet next year for something on either Clay or Hard.
Maybe, Sharapova managed to come back, and it took her quite a long time.
She's a different kind of animal though
lol..extra special treatment may be have been administered!
I can't give Delpo any more "wrist injury" excuses, I have seen a lot of his wins and also losses last year and this year too. I don't think its the wrist injury. I agree getting back to form and after a rehab is not easy, but its long enough time for a young player to do it. If its still not enough, then maybe he will never get it back.
Sharapova's case shouldn't be compared here. You know the state of women's tennis, She won FO yes, reached #1 yes, but so did Azarenka earlier this year. You can't say that now they will start to dominate the game or be winning slams.
Nole and Fed should be no-brainers, just look at their H2H, 11:0 & 9:0 (or 1, can't remember).
---------------------------------
Some commentators were talking about it at the end of the day yesterday. Fed lost his first match to Malisse and so did Djo against Troicki. But after that they haven't in 9 and 11 meetings respectively.
Troicki will never have enough nerves to win this one. No matter what happens, he just won't be able to do it. The only way is if Djokovic retires which of course won't happen.
To me Murrays path to final looks quite certain barring an injury. Cilic will be an easy prey as he has been sucked out of energy in the last match. Andy has good record against Delpo and tsonga. And to all fairness Delpo and Tsonga have tough 4th round matched and can lose in the fourth round.
Few days ago nitb asked me as who will be my finalists and I said Murray -Fed which might happen now.
It will be a Nole Tsonga final, I reckon.
what's their H2H in slams?
Tsonga's got the game for grass, I think he'll have the edge over 5 sets.
Unless Murray demoralises him with some super returning.
Tsonga's got the game for grass, I think he'll have the edge over 5 sets.
--------------------------------------------
5 sets then definitely Murray. Tsonga does not have the physicality. Remember what Nole did to him at French. Murray has better record on grass and Wimby compared to Jo.
Tsonga is better on grass than Murray in my opinion.
He beat Fed in 5 last year, Murray never beat any of the top 3 at Wimbledon.
Murray beat tsonga at Queens last year which is faster than Wimby. And tosnga needs to win against Fish who seems to be in nice form himself
The hawk used to scare pigeons away from Wimbledon has been found after it was stolen from its transport box, its owners reveal.
Queens doesn't really count. Haas beat Fed at Halle twice.
