He seems perfectly happy with how his character is, not everyone is in for the top title, some just want to entertain, he is crazily over, sells tons of merch and puts on better promos than lots of other wrestlers
wrestling has always had comedy charachters, it is a family show, it needs a bit of everything if its going to work.

I disagree. He`s a good mat wrestler but will never be strong enough physically to be in the world title hunt.
I`ve said for a long time now that they should bring back the cruiserweight division so guys like him, sin cara, hunico, yoshi tatsu etc will have something to fight for.
I think Santino gets a hard time to be honest. Despite the nonsense gimmick he's actually a very good wrestler.
Santino isn't a real wrestler. He's ony there for the comedy element surely? And I think he does that well.
