They could try use the ice hockey method and put a chip in the ball and sensors on the posts
Just get an accurate hawkeye system going like they do in the tennis. The trouble with human judgement is that they won't be able to decipher whether a ball is a few mm/cm in contact with the line or not.
I don't see why they say technology wastes time when clearly it will take up the time spent arguing to the ref about it
Yes I do like a good argument on the pitch!
How about a brick wall in the goal at the point where if the ball touched it, it'd officially be over the line? You'd know if there was a shot and it bounced out again, it'd be a goal.
Spurtle
I can't see a brick wall be appealing to the Keepers union somehow.
Hod
They'd like not having to fetch the ball out the back of the net though.
I say no to Goal line technology
Our game hasn't needed it to become the biggest and best sport in the world.
Just leave it. Subjective decisions make the game interesting and give us all reason to discuss/debate.
i am in agreement with metro. I think the thought of goal line technology and making the game better is oversimplistic and could have the the potential to prove more trouble than its worth
I would love the technology to be deployed in some contentious referee decisions as well, like off side leading to a goal etc

That's not goal line tech, now we are talking guide ref . Once we are reviewing for one infringement in the build up to a goal, such as offside, then we will see pressure for others to be reviewed. This is where the real danger lies and has the potential to drastically change the game.
Op, who's going to pay for these HD super slo mo camera. They can't be cheap I'd imagine and there are thousands of professional teams round the world to be equipped
Let's be honest, goal line technology will only solve minor problems. The biggest problem with decisions in football is the incompetence of refs and linesmen and them useless 5th officials
