I'm trying to picture RVP celebrating in front of the Arsenal fans at the Etihad ala Adebayor

I'd take 16 million from a foreign team. Then go out and use that to buy Hernanes from Lazio. Then go out and buy an experienced DM as back-up for Song, a new back-up keeper, and a striker on a similar level to Poldi/Giroud to increase squad depth, those 3 should cost no more than 25 million all told, so net spend of about 45 million, which is what we need to start challenging.

I love football manager

As much as I agree with much of what Van Persie said in his statement, what he has in effect done by releasing it the way he has is to have filled out an online transfer request form.

Meaning for consecutive summers we're about to lose our best player whilst being in a weaker negotiating position.

Nice one.

In my books £16m from Juve trumps £20m from City.

Let's just hope for once the Arsenal board can see past the end of their avaricious noses and sell him abroad.

Man City are lurking in the background ready to pounce for RVP. They have the money to outbid anyone, and have contributed in turning football into an immoral business of greed and selfishness. Offering RVP a reported £220,000 a week is simply obscene.

Didnt he say in the statement there would be more talks with the board/Gazidis?

if we get 20m for him I think i would be happy, with the sale of Bendtner and Vela, Chamakh and Park, I think we could afford to splash on a big name or two.
