Another name to throw out there - Bacary Sagna?

TV might have said he will stay forever but excuse me if I don't really trusts such statements at the moment. My only issue with TV is that he was not really consistent defensively last season, and is not a nailed on starter for me. Love his energy and enthusiasm of course. My captain would be Arteta

Sagna is an interesting idea

Whoever it is it has to be someone who is 10,000% committed to giving his life for Arsenal

I expect it will be Vermaelen with Sagna up to VC, but Arteta and Rosicky are experienced and solid choices too. Wilshere is too young and will really need a season to get back to form.

Vermaelen would be the obvious answer. Vice Captain, a shouter, a real bulldog of a player and one who I think will take the captaincy role by the scruff of the neck. Closest thing to an old-style captain you can get.

I think Szczesny would be a better captain than Jack

I never really see sagna communicating at all, that's why i didn't include him. Also I missed Song out because he is also quiet as well as being awful sometimes

Arteta would be good, unlikely for him to be leaving in the next few years apart from his contract running out. I don't want TV yet.

Yeah Sagna isn't as influential as Vermaelen, but he's so consistent and dedicated I think he's worth the VC role.

Has to be TV at the moment. Puts his all into everything. Wilshere future captain

Give it to Squillaci or denilson since they always seem to target our captains

As captain I think the player has to be a sure starter at least. so I will count Rosicky out. Also you want the captain can play and will play for you for a long period of time, not just one season or two. He should be signed for a relatively long contract and young enough. So, I will count Arteta out.
If we take a look at the previous captains:
a/ always a star player
b/ mostly an attacking player
From the existing roster, there are 3 players that I can think of:
1/ Verminator- star defender, young enough, committed to a long contract
2/ Jack - potential star player, young enough
3/ Podolski (surprise) - ex-Koln captain, 101 caps for Germany already and yet just only 27 years old and have a 4 year contract.
Sagna... very good player... but I think he lacks the charisma to take this job.
