Real Madrid Tactics vs Malaga:

Subs:
Mesut Ozil, Mario Gotze, Raphael Varane, Thiago, Juan Riquelme, Alvaro Arbeloa and M’Baye Niang.

Tactics:
Casillas:
He needs to control his defence, be big and strong in one on ones, be assertive in the air and make sure his distribution is really good. He will command the back line and lead the team out as captain.

Sergio Ramos and Marcelo:
They need to be strong in their tackles and not let their winger beat them, they will always try and show the winger inside where we have a better chance of retaining the ball. Both will have the freedom of pushing up and helping the attack but must not go up at the same time to make sure we don’t get counter attacked.

Pepe and Chiellini:
They will be strong in tackles and always make sure they win the ball. One will always sweep the other for any aerial balls played. Due to his height, I am designating Pepe to man mark Cavani and try and keep him out of the game. He will stay goal side at all times and not give him any room to receive the ball in any way.

Alonso and Mascherano:
They will sit in front of the defence and try and break down attacks and start new ones for us. They will be strong in their tackles and always play it simple when on the ball. They will both have a bit of freedom to push up a little and help with attacks but must make sure the other stays back and we have enough cover at the back. If either get into a decent position, neither will be afraid to shoot from distance to test the opposition keeper.

Arjen Robben, Juan Mata and Cristiano Ronaldo
These 3 will interchange throughout the game to confuse the opposition defence. They will try and link together to punish the Malaga defence. The 2 wingers will try and get behind their man and get balls in for Benzema whilst the middle man will either make late runs into the box or stay on the edge. They will look for lots of through balls to each other and Benzema but will mainly play it simple and not give the ball away too easily. None of them will be afraid to shoot from range either. Ronaldo will also look to push up more when attacking to help out Benzema sometimes and sometimes they will interchange with Ronaldo being the lead of the attack.

Karim Benzema:
Benzema will make lots of forward runs and will try and stay on the last man all the time. He will try and find himself space to collect the ball and lay it off for someone or turn and make a chance for himself. He will try and make himself difficult to mark from the start to confuse the defence and force them into making mistakes.

Subs:
If Losing/Drawing:
Ozil on for Mata on 70’. We will play 4-2-2-2 with Ronaldo up front and try and get the equaliser/winner.
Gotze on for Robben on 70’.
If Winning:
Gotze on for Robben on 70’. He will come on and try and run at a tired defence.
Thiago on for Mata on 70’.
If winning by 2 or more, Niang on for Benzema on 80’.
