At what point did you think that Sigurdsson or VDV could play in that position? Plus Modric is off so we need someone more suited for that role.

VdV probably could play in CM but you'd have to drum it into him that he's got more defensive responsibility. Saying that he has played there fairly often over the last 2-3 years for holland since sneijder nailed the CAM spot.

Although vertonghen can play LB I'd like us to sign a specialist one as BAE doesn't have any competition and lack of conpetition breeds comfort and complacency

I'm just saying that VDV and sigurdsson are wasted in a deeper position. To be honest, i'm not sure what formation AVB favours. I've heard lots of rumours that he likes to stick with one but i don't really know what that is.

I'm completely with you mate, the players we are being linked to and are getting are so much better than the rubbish 34 yr old nelsens and sahas we were buying before. I think levy knows it's make or break and he wants to back avb in the market. French reports that AVB has convinced Lloris about spurs. If this is true then his rep in my view goes up massively.

I agree, really excited about this season. Loving the quality players we are being linked to and even more so that we actually have some chance of signing them. Think the Ade deal is a certain as long as its around the 5m mark as quoted and would love the goalkeeper as well. I still generally feel Modders is off though and we will bring in either Oscar/Moutinho., leaning towards Moutinho with the AVB connection. Only downside of signing Oscar would be Inter would be keeping Damiao. Would rather have him than Oscar though personally.

Also the price so far we are paying is very good buisness..

Vertonghen 9mill not only for his defencive side but he bagged 10 goals from CB last season more then Modric and the quoted 6Mill for Adebayor is in my eyes a BARGAIN ino hes frustrating but he did score 17 league goals for us last season something our strikers havent done since the Berba/Keane days

and Lloris at 13.5-15mill seems expensive but for a 25years old keeper you can get a good 10years out of really aint that bad..

I love the fact that that with all the excitement, all the potential new players as well as the great players we already have, people are STILL putting GDS in lineups!!

It makes a nice change being seriously linked with good players instead of bargain basement shopping. Levy is on it!

I rate GDS very very highly i watched alot of him before we signed him from Barcelona in my eyes he is still the next Ronaldinho he just needs his chance at spurs because what he does for Mexico is unreal i believe given a run in the spurs side he can be a very usefull player.. plus he is an AVB type of player quick and very skillful

my fear is that whilst a keeper is a necessity long term, we have decent options there already. If we blow £15M on him we'll have less to spend on a CM (which is so important with the loss of Modric) and another decent striker on top of Ade. i know the Modric price will adjust our budget but i'd rather see us make that our priority signing and worry about GK and other positions later on.

Fully agree with everything, so happy with the players linked, Sigs doesn't set my heart fluttering but should be a valuable squad player.

As for competition for BAE, all well and good saying if not he'll be complacent and comfortable.....since the day he signed when has his style of play looked anything but but that's why I love the guy despite the heart attacks he gives me.

Next ronaldinho? That's a bit extreme don't you think? Considering he played a decent amount of games at barca while they were poor in 07/08 and still decided to sell him for a relatively low fee suggests not. I would like to have seen him get a decent run in the team but to put him in the bracket of a 2-time world player of the year is a bit much in my opinion

Lloris would be a good choice, especially only at 25. Get rid of Modric abroad, use the money for Moutinho. Personally i dont really like Adebayor upfront, I think he misses a lot of chance which a quality keeper would put away.

For me a keeper is a priority. I love fredal but we just can't rely on a guy thats 42 as our number 1, it's ridiculous. I would love fredal to stay on as number 2 but for me Hugo Lloris is a signing that needs to be done and one that i would be ecstatic about.

Hugo Lloris for me would be the best signing so far.. and could only be beaten if we sign Hulk,Damiao or Moutinho Lloris

To add to what Don just said, with AVB's preference to a high line, regardless of how well Brad did last season, he is routed to his line. Him in the new system would leave massive gaps to exploit. High lines require a keeper to play as sweeper as well
