I feel AVB will go for every trophy this season. Even if we finished fifth or lower I don't think many of us would mind if we had the blow softened by an FA or Europa League trophy. Plus AVB has that connection with the Europa from when he won it with Porto.

I think he will, also I'd absolutely love it if we had a good crack

Tbh, seeing the youth and reserves in action was one of the most enjoyable things for me last season full-stop. I just think Harry called it a bit wrong (not the right mix and all a bit thrown-together as an unwelcome distraction).

While I'll be surprised if we manage to beat fourth place in the PL I think we may just take this competition by storm this season

I'd be happier with a trophy over top 4....other than first obviously.....

But that's not gonna happen....so yeah...europa wld be fab...

I'd like us to at least try to compete for all competitions (as difficult as it is). A similar approach for the initial games is a good idea though and gives some fringe players some game time.

I could see him going for it in the Europa league this season.

I'd settle for fourth, the Europa league and the FA cup.

Professor Levy; make it so.

There's no e - absolutely, loved seeing the promise of some of the youth players last season! Just taken a bit more seriously than Harry's 'well no-one wants to be in it, do they?' rubbish.

Modric - you don't ask much do you mate?! I'd be happy with fourth with CL (third ideally) plus one of those two cups

the one thing that no one can argue with is that under redknapp we were an utter JOKE in the cups...

embarassing more like.

smashed by chelsea
smashed by fulham
beat by portsmouth
dont even start me on the europa league
went out with a wimper to man u kids in the carling cup. etc etc

hopefully AVB gives a bit of respect to the cups... we have built our reputation over the years by being a serious cup side.. so its about time we added some silverware

Fulham

One thing that Harry has been consistent about throughout his career since the Spammers - he's achieved some amazing results, but his teams (including us) always got absolutely spanked at times.

I really think he'll always regret Spurs - so close and yet so far for him

Is this the same Harry that was recently accused of never rotating?

I think getting a trophy in is extremely important as it reinforces confidence gives the fans a lift an raises the profile of the club, city winning the Fa cup got that monkey off our backs had the banner at old Trafford taken down and instilled a winning mentality.

Success breeds success if like at city an spurs you have a good squad base an good support then it kicks you on a notch.

I expect spurs to do well this season.

Take Europa seriously.

You probably wont win it but it's your best chance of a trophy

If you're talking about the majority of posters on here (and everywhere else) moaning that he never rotated WHEN NECESSARY in the competitions he was actually bothered about then yes.

Throwing a bunch of youth players into tough games seemingly randomly, along with fringe players who were already alienated, unhappy, and had little motivation is not 'rotating' - it's called 'not taking a competition you could very well win seriously if you didn't have such disdain for it'

Harry couldn't manage a CL campaign alongside the PL (with early, embarrassing, exits from the other cups). And still we were told we were 'punching above our weight'.

Cityblue - spot on

AVB has already said in his interview that he is going all out for every cup and loves the Europa and respects it. This for me is a breathe of fresh air to the attitude we adopted under redknapp regarding cup competitions like Europa. Didn't exactly help our league form did it
