I would be, we're packed out in the striker department. Falcao would cost like 40m, and he isn't what the team needs now. A central midfielder and a left back is our priority, then the team will be complete to challenge all honours
as for welbeck, his finishing need a lot of work before he is ready to lead the line.
a top 4 club should have a 20+ goals a season striker leading the line, and unless he improves his finishing he will struggle.
saying that though i think thats the only thing letting him down at the minute.
i dont understand all this where will this leave welbeck stuff anyway.
we should be competing for 4 trophies, and its no longer about a starting 11 anymore, its about the squad, and everyone would get games as we'd be looking at 60 games a season.

RE Welbeck leading the line. His finishing needs work. Everything else though - his link up play, hold up play, working the channels, pace, strength - is there. When he is leading the line the team plays better. Simple as. We've got our 25 goal a season man in Rooney - and Welbeck is the perfect foil for him.
As for having a squad - look we had four striker last year and we couldnt give one of them enough games to keep him happy. Having already signed Kagawa, how on earth are we going to juggle yet another striker?
We dont need him, he would cost about £50m +, and it would be a monumental waste f money.
Are people actually saying they would be annoyed if we signed him?

Berbatov?
Duncan
Normally when Rooney gets injured someone steps up. In 2010/2011 Berbatov stepped up. Next season Macheda could step up
and if he got injured? you cant rely on rooney solely for goals.

Hernandez got about 13 goals last season and he was warming the bench a bit, his debut season he got about 20
This is Hernandez's make or break season. Last season he was poor (I know he had his injuries). It seemed like teams knew how to play against him, he was constantly offside
A central midfielder and a left back is our priority, then the team will be complete to challenge all honours
--------------
contradicted yourself there mate, your happy for a midfielder to be signed, which will halt cleverleys development, but not a striker?
I am not convinced by Hernandez. Good squad player, I think our fans overrate him a little.
How will it hinder his development though? We're lacking quality in that department, and Clevs is an injury worry right now unlike Welbeck. If we get a good fresh young midfielder in, I want him and Clevs to be our central midfield pair for the future. You can argue the new signing would be a replacement for Carrick as he's only got a few years left in him
I think Carrick has 2 seasons in him. He will be 31 before this season begins. Then you have Giggs and Scholes with one season left in them. Fletcher may never play again which leaves us with Anderson (injury prone) and Cleverley (injury prone) To not add a new centre midfielder to the squad this summer would be insane.
But I was watching the United-Chelsea Game (3-3) earlier today and I think a new left back may be more important then a centre mid. Evra was at fault for 2 of the goals (all 3 if he gave the free kick away) we are leaking so many goals down our left and its because of him
Welbeck may well become the next alan shearer given time. However if signing falcao meant winning the EPL and CL next season I could live with it
The OP is about getting shot of nani, why is no one saying no to him going? yet are up in arms over welbeck?
Jack - Evans done well but would not have played as much if vidic wasn't injured
What the hell does that have to do with it? Vidic is one of the best defenders in the world, the fact that Evans has stepped in and not looked out of place is testimony to how good he is.
For us to miss Vidic so little is stupendous. We've brought through a world class defender in Evans, given time he'll be right up there with the best. He's already doing it and just needs 1-2 more seasons at this level to prove he's consistent enough to be considered WC.
Signing Falcao would be a truly ridiculous decision given how much he'd cost and how much talent Welbeck has in this United setup.
As someone mentioned earlier the team plays better with Welbeck because even though at the moment he isn't a major goalscorer, he's great at pretty much everything else (second half v Everton at OT sums up what an in form Welbeck can do).
Falcao would not improve things anywhere near enough to merit his signing.
Why would we sell one of our most talented players to acquire someone who could very well flop here. How many people have actually watched falcao play consistently? I've only seen him in a few games and he was pretty inconsistent.
As for Welbeck, how old is he again? People already want him to be like RVN. I see no reason why we should waste money on a striker when we've got a local lad holding his own in our starting 11.
Welbeck will be something special. I for one will not be pleased if his development is stunted by a signing.
He may be an amazing player, and if we got him I'm sure he'd be awesome.
But as people are saying, we have a young striker that has come through the ranks that we all want to see do well. By signing (not that we are) but if we did sign Falcao then it would totally hinder Welbeck and probably result in him leaving.
If we have that kind of money it needs to be spent on central midfield, the position that's been overlooked for several years now.
Vrf, is it possible for you to have a debate without resorting to calling someone "an idiot" or "toad" or even question that they have "ever watched football" just because their opinion differs to yours?
Talk about arrogant.
Falcao is an excellent striker but I would hate to see him brought in when other areas need strengthening first.
This is just speculation anyway...
I wish a certain someone would calm down and actually let other people have a different opinion!! Why do you insult everyone on this forum who has a different view??? Everyday it's the same, you call everyone a plastic, when they just want the best for united. I suggest you think before typing and have some anger management as when your name pops up I just don't bother with the thread anymore......and it's just not me either! In other words grow up!
VRF, unbelievable you are one hell of a keyboard warrior, we all read this forum to see people's different opinions but you always make out yours is the only one that is right, if you can't handle people having different views to yourself that this is the wrong place for you.
If you had Anything about you now you would apologise for the name calling.
For the record your are often wrong and I for one would love to see UNited buy a top top striker, Welbeck has potential but his finishing and technical play is often poor and he is hardly a kid anymore so let's all hope it improves.
If Fergie really has enquirer about RVP then he obviously thinks different to you also so make sure you insult him also just to be consistent.
Keyboard warrior, it winds me up when there's fools that think we should just shun Welbeck aside for a superstar just to satisfy some people's greed. When do we ever buy a world class player? Why would SAF want to hinder the development of the youngsters by binging in Falcao and shutting their confidence down? Jesus Christ, you people don't respect Welbeck because he's not clinical at 21? Do you people expect him to be David Villa at this age? This is why I wonder if people do watch football if they think a youngster should be world class at this age, and then support the fact we bring in a player we don't even need to hinder the boys development. Such pathetic greedy fans we have on here.
If Fergie really has enquirer about RVP
Show me evidence he has, I beg you.
Falcao is another RVN, a pure goal scorer with little else to his game.
Now thats all well and good, but RVN's presence in the team actually hindered us and when saha got in ahead of him we played much better football and started winning things again.
If we wanted a a pure goalscorer, might aswell just play hernandez.
Players like welbeck bring a lot more to the team.
For the cost, and especially if we lost Nani, it would be an awful signing.
