This would be cooler if they had dangerous jumps like the grand national.

or even if they were just riding horses. a horse road race !

from BBC

Team GB, led by Chris Froome and Bradley Wiggins are still working supremely hard at the front of the peloton and the gap to the first group of escapees continues to come down. With about 80km to go, they are one-and-a-half minutes adrift.

Stick roller-blades on them horses and were talking a proper sport.

Anyone wanting to know why the GB team are in the 3rd group is because they are riding for a sprinter so in the last 20k or so they will hope to have caught the group and unleash Cavendish in the last 500m or so. Germany are doing the same with their sprinter Griepel. The guys in the leading groups don't have huge finishing speed so they have to try to get away from the main bunch in order to stand any chance of a medal. Hope this helps. Watch out for Sagan too if this ends in a sprint.

Or just release bears on to the road at random intervals.
I can't think of any event that couldn't be improved with the introduction of bears.

your onto something there blueboy.
Most events could be considerably improved with at least 1 bear.

What don't you understand?

posted on 28/7/12

I'm getting the cycling now, it just looked liked a really risky tactic but GB kept to the plan!

posted on 28/7/12

most surprising thing is how many people have turned out to watch it and behaved themselves.

posted on 28/7/12

what i dont understand is why they need to go round this fkn circuit 9 times before they have the inevitable sprint finish.

posted on 28/7/12

What's really annoying me is that everyone said that there are no tickets but I can see bear empty seats at these events

posted on 28/7/12

so are there 3 main groups atm? and gb are front of the 3rd / last

posted on 28/7/12

Because it isn't inevitable. Normally with a course like this it ends in a bunch sprint but sometimes the chasing group mess up the times and fail to catch so someone who can't sprint wins. In the Tour de France Wiggins won because he was better in the mountains than most people whereas the sprinters can't hack it. This course is set up for sprinters to win.

2 groups at the moment. The main group caught the 2nd group of riders and are going to catch the lead group.

From BBC

If Mark Cavendish does win gold, his Austrian Team Sky team-mate Bernhard Eisel will deserve almost as much credit for the medal as his British comrades. Eisel has no chance of winning this race himself, but he is working hard to help the British contingent with no other nations getting involved. It's great to see.

WOW!!!!

========================

so it is inevitable then ?

posted on 28/7/12

Eisel and Cav are big big mates.

It isn't inevitable. It's likely but if all the sprinters got dropped on Box Hill then a non sprinter would win. That's what the lead group are hoping to do.
