Its a test to UEFA, if they are serious about the new rules, they will ban the deal from going through

I have said all along, teams will find a way around it, they just dont have the balls to ban teams like City, Man UTD or even Real Madrid from the CL if they break the rules

Whats to stop Man City offering a private box for £100 million and one of their owners buying it?

Yeh as RRP said bans will probably not come into effect in reality as the CL is UEFA's cash cow and they willl milk every last Euro so losing a big team like Real, Barca etc is a no go.
I think this is just a ploy by City to see how far they can push their luck, if not they are seriously deluded in thinking this is how business deals are done in Europe when the dubiousness of this sponsorship agreement is so plainly obvious to all and sundry

This is what I've always said to anti-Chelsea WUMS. There are so many loopholes and translucent regulations with the FFP that it simply won't be that bigger deal. There is simply no way UEFA will ban teams like Inter, Milan, United, Barca or Madrid if they don't comply with the regulations and by doing that they can't ban the likes of Chelsea or City either

The kind of people who end up with billions of pounds are pretty used to getting round all kinds of rules and laws. Rules and laws that have more serious punishments associated with them than a stern email from Platini.

What are UEFA gonna do - threaten to get together an intimidating team of accountants? I reckon these mega-rich owners can handle that.

I will be amazed if the FFP rules have any effect whatsoever. It's a nice thought but basically rich, powerful men have ways of getting around authorities - t'was ever thus.

Only thing the FFP rules MIGHT do is prevent any other clubs from getting the sudden, massive injections of cash that Chelsea and Man City have had. So the ladder's been pulled up before any of the other clubs can do the same.

I'll be expecting the top four or five of the league table to look pretty much the same in twenty, thirty years' time.

How exciting.

If UEFA want to sort out the abuse of power and money and rule bending then they should start with THIEFA

THudd :

That one is already been played out.
Citeh fans will go for any Arabic etymology that doesn't mean "united" (such as "union" etc) .

But it has caused great WUM fodder though (witness "etihad in english" etc going near to the top of the google search auto-complete function outputs etc) .

Even with all them billions, City still can't keep their better players. A small club, with a rich owner, that's all City are.
