When I saw about Pavone I hoped to read that he'd scored a bucket load in helping Betis secure promotion. But no, he wasn't wanted by a team in the second tier of Spanish football.
If this is just the addition of a squad player, then fine, but if this is the sign of things to come, then what a joke.
He may be a great find, something tells me he won't be though.
where have you read about Papiss Cisse?
If we sign SWP I think I might cry, he is total tripe, Hoilett is already better than him.

much better to sign exotically named foreign players who have never played in the premier league.
Give me a Kevin Davies and a Wright-Phillips over Pavone and Formica any day of the week.
Agree with SKL: tried and tested Prem players are what we need. If we were a club on the up with an already decent squad then I'd be happy to see us expand with foreign players.
As it is we are already on the way to removing most of the Premier-level quality from our team and I'd be just as confident if an airplane spork was in charge of the transfer policy.
*sorry that should have read 'more confident'
He's only 29 though...
Also, not only not good enough for Spanish L2, but:
"He had a penalty saved against Belgrano in a play-off which saw River Plate relegated."
Class!

with the jones money we could have got roger johnson, jamie o'hara and demba ba. improved all areas of the team and still had 5 million change.
i know it's easy on paper, but it can't be as hard as we're making it look.
Couldn't agree more mate, get more worried by the day.
No problem with those who reserve judgement til the end of the window, but the old "I'm glad we're not rushing into any panic buys" response is wearing thinner by the day!
All those players listed above would've been a step in the right direction. The club's reluctance to cough up relatively small fees while teams around us strengthen is so frustrating.
had a look around the sky sports site for the Papiss Cisse story, its actually from the 25th June, so probably not worth getting excited about!
Sorry about the Cisse story lads my mistake I was sneaking a crafty look at work and didn't read it proper
Did I at any point refer to getting unknown foreign players over SWP?
I'd rather us sign Premiership players, even Championship players over untried 'talent'.
My point was simply that SWP is rubbish and has been for a number of years, Hoilett is about 10 years younger and better than him so it is a pointless signing, as they play the same positions.
I seem to remember you getting excited about the likes of Formica and Rochina?
Hoillett and SWP can both play in various positions, no harm in having options in a squad.
Not that we'll sign him. Or anyone half decent.
I'm excited by what I've seen in the reserves, personally I think both will have an impact this coming season.
Watching the reserves? Hows the big hope Myles Anderson getting along. Guess he's probably too big now for the reserves though...
I'm with SKL on Wright-Phillips, accept that Hoilett is better than him but Wolves was a strong indicator that Hoilett is best playing behind the front man so I see no problem with Wright-Phillips challenging Emerton for right-wing. He's not a guaranteed improvement on what we've got but at least he's a similar standard, which would make him our 2nd best signing after Jones since Venkys took over.
