100% 10,000 test runs. Between 12-14,000.

Most people agree he can get 10k easily, if that's the case then he should reach 15k with ease... England will now start to dominate the Ashes that's going to be another area where Cook will excel and score vast amounts of runs from.

It depends on how having the captainancy affects him.

In my opinion, Cricket is all about quality not quantity.

As long as he's part of a successful team and scores crucial runs, I'll be happy, but I seriously doubt his technique if the next generations of the opposition produce quality fast bowlers.

cook is probably the best left hander batsman after sanga. and as most left handers have a problem with left arm spinners it will be crucial how teams work on cook. I think he has the potential. it also depends more on whether he is willing to play till 36+. most foreign players retire so early unless he is a ponting or kallis

I think it's that captaincy role that will play a part. I can see Cook becoming skipper of the Test side, if that goes well then he may just play into the late 30's because of that role.

If Sachin had started his career around about now I dred to think the amount of runs he would've scored...

No doubt he'll shatter all the meaningful England batting records and he looks best set out of the current crop to have a crack at what Tendulkar eventually sets but it's still a pretty big ask in my opinion.

He's had a good injury record so far, does he have back issues? And as you point out he can grind scores out in lean patches but there will be rough periods down the line which can become difficult to overcome in later age. I doubt he will personally...

In regards to where Cook eventually sit in the English batting pantheon he'll be top 10 for sure, possibly top five but in my opinion at least no one will surpass the great Jack Hobbs or even Len Hutton...
