Ashley Young was a bad buy at that price..with his contract up..thats for sure.. We needed a proper left winger with a left foot. Still he is here now and got a few very good goals. Hopefully he will improve more and more.

Are you all really dumb? The agent obviously means the reserve players not the reserve team. I.e. not in our first XI

Exactly, he's a good squad player who scored and assited vital goals during the run-in and yet he gets disrespected for fack all.

I never understood the young bashing, scored some great goals for us and made some good assists, our best left winger for sure

Ashley Young is no Nani or Valencia, but he is a good player. Certain United fans are simply spoilt rotten.

Probably disrespected because he cost a lot, goes down way too easy and is not a flying left winger. Still better than Bellion,Bebe,DJX2,Kleberson,Miller signings

If Young was called Ashlidio Younginho I bet some fans would be creaming their pants over him.

He didn't decide his transfer fee, Villa did. He gets disrespected because he's English and he doesn't perform like Messi which is apparently what all United players should be doing.

VRF..perhaps.... he is a squad player..good delivery and freekicks and always capable of that curled finish into the corner. I think there is more to come from him. Positional sense,backtracking..standing up more and running at players more.. if he improves 15-25% I will be happy ..

---------------------------------

why? he is one of the most dull, one dimensional attacking players in world football. i would rather watch paint dry than watch young constantly cut back onto his right foot and hoof an aimless cross into the box.

posted on 23/7/12

there might be some truth in this one actually

VRF I notice you don't have your title in your name.
Also what I would say about young is, he doesn't play that well, but always chips in with goals and assists. Would you rather a player play well all the time and come up with a contribution once in a while. Or one that is quiet, at times even poor, but comes up with moments of quality and makes regular contributions?

Me too mate, squad players are great coming off the bench or filling in for injured players. He had great link up play before his early season injury, remember when we played fast attacking football? He was a part of it.

he is one of the most dull, one dimensional attacking players in world football.

No he isn't, he's two footed and can play anywhere across the front line. Valencia is more one dimensional than him, I don't see you slagging him off but of course he's foreign and immune to any criticism.

I want a squad player to put 100% on the pitch and work hard for the team, which Young was capable of doing last season. Norwich last minute assist, the goal (IMO top 10 goal of the season) against Spurs, the goal against Blackburn. The demolition of Arsenal, I can go on and on. I'm happy he's at the club, he's overpriced so what? This is English players for you, blame Dalglish for starting the trend off.

Agree to disagree Hip, but I doubt Fergie would put him ahead of those two who are arguably the best wingers in the league. Like I said, a good squad player.

posted on 23/7/12

I think you misunderstood me. Young isn't the. Best player, but he makes regular contributions. Which is why he's a valuable squad member. And IMO good enough for the first team if it wasn't that we have better wingers.
I think he's the in fashion player to bash at the moment. I think people have gotten board with Anderson.

no, he isn't two footed, he always comes back on to his right foot to cross and rarely beat his man.

clearly you don't watch him play

he is two footed

just watched that video of him. he looks better than gazza, and there's less than a handful of players id say that about.

Wingers often do. No matter how strong your weak foot is, it is very difficult to generate as much whip and pace on crosses with it.

Nani does the same thing, and we can all agree he is one of the most 2 footed players in the league. The crosses he does attempt with his left are no where near as dangerous the the crosses with his right.

posted on 23/7/12

I think most players tend to have two feet. Most have two hands and a head aswell

Sorry wonder man I'm a bit tired, but I agree with your points Stu scurries off when anyone counter acts his point yet again though, I'm pretty sure he's a wum.
