Asking for medical advice on a football forum, good move, I'm sure you'll get some quality responses

Welcome to middle age btw

You've either pulled or torn a muscle. Since you're on here, I'd go with pulled. When it's torn you'd be in too much pain to come on here. Simply you need Iburophen and to stay in bed, for a week. Use ice to reduce the pain and swelling and use Deep Heat, to heat your muscles.

Source: My wife did the same a couple of weeks ago.

Back pain is a fecking nightmare. If Ibuprofen isn't working, take more of it and hope for the best. I suffer from the odd bout and have never found a stretch that actually makes any noticable difference.

Good luck

Ask the doctors for some Cocodamol and you should be feeling a bit better.

Hope you learnt your lesson though. You are at a tender age now you should be sitting in the armchair smoking a pipe and moaning about the weather

Are you carrying any weight on your stomach? if so lose that or youll continue to have back problem any time you bend over.

Aside from that to ease the pain, lie down and bring your one of your knees up to your chest, then reverse knees, do it slowly and hold for a minute or so. It should give you a nice stretch.

I have a bulging disc in my lower vertebrae from football. I'm hoping you don't have the same because the last 6 months i can't seem to get my back better. Hurt like hell in the begining, but i kept on the anti inflammatories, rested for a week and then done physio for about a month. I started pilates which has helped alot too. It still aches after a game of football though. Maybe its time to give up?

Like i said, hope its just a tweek for your back and not a bulging disc. Go get it checked out.

DO NOT DO ANY EXERCISING!

You have to let the muscle heal first.

Ibuprofen and heat treatments, ice is only any good used straight away.

Aren't you only 26!

must have been playing against a mighty opponent. My advice would be to stop playing against him/her!

I would pop and see some sort of trained professional on the subject, I know we come accross as well informed sensible people on here but sometime its get a bit contradictory.

A doctor prehaps? Oh or a 'massuese' might be good for you.

Yeah, but she looked pretty upset about it, I think she had a lump in her throat.

You've strained /pulled a muscle. You have to reduce your movement to avoid damaging it further. If I were you I'd go see a doctor.
