Lucas or Pogba

In terms of what we need as in a CM, I would rather have Pogba, but in terms of who i think is/will be better it's got to be Lucas.

I have not seen Lucas play, or Pogba at premiership level, so can't compare.

Has anyone, really?

I trust Fergusons judgement here, if Pogba wasnt worth what he was asking for then good ridance.

If Lucas signs for £31mil then thats what Ferguson thought he was worth...

Yeah, I have seen Pogba in quite a few reserves and Lucas in a couple of games (not much to go by). But for me I was dissapointed Pogba left because I really do expect him to go onto be a top quality player.

Lucas from what I have seen is too greedy and often picks the wrong choice of shooting/passing which (if he does join) im sure SAF will sort out.

Anyway in summary - im sure both will be top quality and im dissapointed we lost Pogba. Lucas isn't really needed in the position he plays, however he will be world class. Just a bit dissapointed we aren't linked with a CM.

All I ever saw were a few glimpses of Pogba, and not once during those three appearances did I think to myself, this looks like the new Keane, Robson, Viera etc.

Not even a glimpse of it.

Fair enough of VC. I hope Pogba develops in to nothing better than a Carlton Palmer but people were raving about him up until he left.

It's difficult to say which, when both are so young and untried. I guess another aspect is it would have been more satisfying to bring Pogba through than pay 30 million for someone. Then again, we poached Pogba and what does money matter when you're buying in young talent.

Regarding Lucas, I really don't worry about this talk about being greedy or not giving the ball at the right time because these things can easily be taught. I remember a certain other young signing being exactly the same. And we sold him for 80 million.

Thats what I was getting at VC and I wasnt really impressed by him in comparison to Morrison and look how well he has done since leaving.

Im not saying he wont turn out to be a great player in the future but based on what I saw its not a big deal that hes gone.

...............

But only on potential as opposed to being any good.

Has anyone seen much of Lucas at great lenght to even answer the OP's question? If so, is it possible for you's to shed a little more light on why were possibly looking hand over 30mil for him. Is he that good.... really?

Shame we lost Pogba. He looked a class above for the reserves but the PL is a totally different kettle of fish. Who know's how far he'd have gone!

I saw Pogba live once, in the Youth FA Cup semi final at Stamford Bridge. I know it isn't the highest level of football and we lost the game but Pogba was immense, his physical presence, control, shot, passing were all far better than anyone else on the pitch.

However he's gone and from all the things I read I didn't particularly like the way he went about the whole contract talks. Will be very interesting to see how he expects to get games at Juve who have an abundance of quality central midfielders already.

Lucas on the other hand all I've seen are the YouTube clips. If he was a LW and available for say £15m then I would say take the risk but the fact he plays on the RW where we have the 2 best RWs in the league and could cost £30m just makes me not too keen on the deal. I just don't see how he is expected to get games and develop.

I must admit what i saw of him in the first team he looked very raw. And although he could be the next viera would that type of player fit in to our way anyway. I guess we'll just have to see how he develops. Personally i would rather tunnicliffe come through because he is British and that inspirational leader in the middle has always been British. Not sure he is up to the mark though.

From what I have seen of Tunnicliffe, and that again is very little, doesn't tell me he is going to make it.

Be interesting to see if Peterborough want to take him on loan again. If not, it is a sign that he isn't up to much.

I think Tunnicliffe is a grafter who could be very useful as a squad member but I'm not sure whether he has that little extra needed to be a top player. He is still young though so would be unfair to make judgements on him too soon.

I wouldn't say "next viera", I would say his game as more similar to Yaya Toure's. Not afraid to put a tackle in, strong, can pass it about and shoot.

Lucas is a kind of mix between Valencia, Nani and Young. He's very quick, has bags of skill and can play any attacking position really. Behind the ST on the left or right, I even saw him play up top in one game alongside Fabuano.

@VC,

Judging by the amount of games he started Peterbrough werent too hot on him either.
