Defenders

I rate Collins think he's just what we need, experienced strong defender could be a great foil for the likes of Lascelles to play off. Also Collins, Higginbottom (if we get him) are both left footed centre backs so Halford will be a perfect compliment for these guys and he can fill in at right back. Halford is 6ft 4 and at 27 he's coming into his peak, has an eye for goal too with 7 in 40 odd games for Pompey. So all in all, good business, thank you Fawaz!!

Agreed - I hope we keep Lascalles now, talk of him going to the Prem seems to have stopped.

As much as I liked Gunter, he couldn't score a goal if he was the only man on the pitch! You need more goals from an attacking full back, hopefully with someone like Halford we might get that. Even Freeman got a few for County - hopefully he'll be given a chance this year cos the 'pies were raving about him!
I think with Freeman, Collins, Lascelles, Maloney on the books, we realistically need another 3 defenders, ideally a left back and 2 centre backs. Would be happy with Halford and Friend of the names we've been linked with - but you never know what's going on in the background. SoD came out and said he's looking for players who have top end Championship experience - would this rule out Friend? Exciting times nonetheless

collins is a good defender at this level with a lot of experience, very good signing

not so sure about halford though, he's a bit suspect defensively and all his goals are penalties. he's quite versatile though so he could be useful to have around the squad.

Not really impressed with Collins or Halford...hopefully just squad players

So exiledred; what defenders should we be targetting?

Not Collins who has failed to impress at his last 2 Championnship clubs or Halford who was always pretty average at this level especially at RB

Why name 3 players who have just signed for different clubs. Lees and Williams are rising stars at their clubs so recruiting them is far easier said than done. Gerrard is available for transfer and is a decent shout but overall I'd take Collins over all of the above names. His experience will be key for puitting together a new back four. Richard Keogh at Derby is laughable that you'd mention him over Collins

"Why name 3 players who have just signed for different clubs" - hence I put 'we should of got'.

Pearce won every award at Portsmouth, great player we could of got on a cheap, Shackell is the same. Keogh again won every award going, great CB. Lees could have been prised away from Leeds. Plus they are all better than Collins.

Now we all know that you would not have said that a month ago, Len.

I dont see the logic of moaning about signing a highly sought after centre half that has played 150 premeirhsip games, been promoted from the championship 3 times to then name 3 players who just signed for other clubs??
Should we rewind time and force the Doughty estate to sell to the Al Hawasi's sooner?? Just moaning for the sake of moaning. Keogh hardly pulled up any trees at Coventry last year, to suggest he's better than Collins is farcicial

If your gonna moan then at least present alternatives who are currently and potentially attainable, this is the real world. Why not say lets sign Kompany or Lescott as there about as likely as signing Keogh, Pearce or Shackrell

I work in Coventry and (apparently) they reckon without him, the Sky Blues would have been down a few months earlier than they were relegated. I'm not suggesting he's better - just that he was the one you singled out from a list of seven.

Old One Eye

He was their stand out player last year and would of been an excellent addition.
