Desperation from the daily record.
The idea was that Lennon would be able to count £800,000 of the borrowed money as part of his investment, giving him a total of £1million and allowing him to reduce his income tax bill by £400,000.

and he has the cheek to call us, the tramp
at all the tic fans dissing this story about St. Neil as it's in the Rhebel
if it was a negative story about rangers on the other hand it would be taken as gospel

I have not read too much about these schemes so I wonder if anyone could enlighten me.
how does it reduce your income tax? Wouldn't the money have to be paid into the scheme by his employers before they pay his tax?
At least he didn't use it to cheat in a sporting competition eh? Lol #strippingtitles

nah he just used to cheat the hospitals, doctors, nurses and the army of money but i see your point
Backed up by banks, lawyers and a supposedly thought out investment plan.

ginger it was the same with rangers and the EBT's yet we've been crucified for them and we haven't been found guilty of mis-use yet
Ginger I completely agree with everything you just said and your point is not dissimilar to a thread I started a while back.
So tell me why does that not apply to the use of EBT then?
right firstly its the record, so lets see how much of this the have right.
secondly heres a few notes from this article.
"Lennon only got back £80,000 of his money – and received none of the tax benefits he was promised"
so he payed full tax then?
so really all lennon got out of this was a 120k loss and he MIGHT owe 36k in legal costs?
fair play im sure he will pay it, sound guy that he is.
im
It's only the start Mr oneil and Mr lawell are next and through a few Celtic players into the mix
what about poor John hartson? Won't that legal bill force him into bankruptcy again?
so keny your comfortable that your manager tried to double his entitlement to tax relief through dodgy means?

Tax avoidance, whils playing at Celtic, along with John Hartson, meaning more personal wealth thus no point in not staying at Celtic and looking for more money elsewhere. SO based on that, how many titles were won by Celtic in those years? They should be handed back too
not at all, i pay my taxes so should everyone else, if he owes money then he should pay it back.
Does he owe money? Not sure what u want me to say here, if he owes it then pay it back, if he doesnt then whats to be done? Tax him twice?
