This was a man who was openly Rascist towards other boxers and ran his mouth of belittling every opponent he ever faced in the ring.
A great sportsman he is not
A person who is great at his sport-- yes he is
the guy was an absolute idiot he's hardly the type of sportsperson you would asscociate with the olympics is he?

Some people really need a history lesson
An absolute legend is Ali. What he did for boxing can not be put into words. The greatest sports personality ever
He didn't really do anything for boxing
I admire him for refusing to fight for his country and agree he did a lot for Black Americans in his fight against prejudice.
On the other side he was rascist to his opponents
He lost 5 fights and these weren't when he was old and on the way down
He had some controversial decisions go in his favour.
Also turning up at your opponents house at 3 in the morning calling him out is hardly sportsmanship.
He was as classy in his respect for other opponents as David Haye is. Only difference is that Ali backed it up in the ring
"We who follow the teachings of Elijah Muhammad don't want to be forced to integrate. Integration is wrong. We don't want to live with the white man; that's all."
This statement sums him up
Ali will always be a boxing legend
However for me, Tyson was more entertaining and interesting
Rogue that was all in retaliation to how the black folk were treated in USA at that time. Blacks were not even 2nd class citizens during that time which lead to him throwing his gold medal away.
As for joining the nation of Islam he has admitted that he was wrong and did leave the nation after Malcom X was executed. As for his defeats some of them were at the end of his career when he was too old and he fought at the greatest era of heavyweight or any weight of boxing.
He's still 2nd behind Sugar Ray Robinson but u can't have a go at someone who was bought up and treated like dirt by the majority in his country.

I am really surprised about the negatIve comments coming from people regarding MA. Yes he had flaws, yes he did some questionable things but that era is very different to what we live in now.
Yes he trashed talk, tbf what boxer doesn't. Him and JF had a very strange relationship, but deep down they respected each other.
Any country you go to whether China or Morocco, everyone will know MA and what he stood for. He put boxing on the map to a huge population, he inspired generations and that will never be achieved again. Tyson also did this but not on the same scale as Ali.
As you like to throw in quotes, I will take some of the more recent things he said,
"God gave me Parkinson's to remind me that I am not the Greatest, He is!"
