take a good look at Yossi Benayoun, and then tell me we need Modric, he will be like a new signing for us this season
Even Xavi would take two years to learn whats what here.

I know what you're getting at but the guy is a world beater he would come into the Prem and show everyuone how to run a midfield properly
I think the transfer request will prove to the spuds that there is no point in keeping him on
IMO we'll end up getting him for about £35 million when he returns from Spurs tour
I will say, Modric is exactly what the doctor ordered, for my money Torres poor frm last season was as much due to the lack of support from midfield and the wings. Players like Malouda seemed more concerned with getting themselves on the score sheet than setting up others, the number of times I saw Malouda shoot from tight abgkes instead of pass to Torres..
Watch a Spurs game and see just how much of their play flows through him. imo his poor assist tally is more reflective of their hopeless striekrs than lack of ability

Yossi with a young Lampard maybe, Yossi with a fit Essien possibly.
With neither he'll be average.

That's abit like having Iniesta and claiming you don't need Xavi. Can Benayoun dictate the tempo of an entire midfield??? Maintain control over the centre of the pitch on his own???
We're tryna get closer and closer to replicating Barcelona every year. We signed Puyol and Villa in January (Luiz & Torres), we're desperately tryna get are potential Messi (Neymar). Now we're after our Xavi (Modric).
Don't count on Yossi, good player but makes Michael Owen seem positively healthy

I thought the link between him and Torres at liverpool was at times, almost telepathic, akin to Franks linking with Diddier, they instinctively know where their wing man is going to be, and they play to each others strengths, expecting Frank to now get a feel for the runs and timing of Fernando is asking too much, his wing man is Diddier, and he plays the game in a much different way
I actually agree with Sandsend - while I admit a new midfielder is probably needed now Essiens injured Yossi is a very similar player to Modric, as is Josh.

Until last season he had 3 consecutive season with over 40 appearances so why do you keep saying that he has apoor injury record. It is not true.

Spot on mate, all we need is some steel in the mix, Toite (Spelling) is allegedly in the frame, but we must get us a ball winner, a "Guvnor" if you will (No, not a self named Guvnor like that tuat Ince, a real one)

Its all over the wires and Sky that Emenalo says that we will not be buying a replacement for Essien.
Its the creativity that has been and still is the problem.
If that is the case, and Emenalo is on the money, it must mean we are trusting Mikel, and that doesn't fill me with hope
When Josh gets his chance & sets the prem alight,,,we'll all be saying
"well I never thought we needed Modric anyway"
I'm saying that now...
