the guy has been average for the last few seasons. we really should be thinking about easing him out of the side in the next two seasons. i can't think who could though!?
What an awful performance!

He's had 30 mins of fooball!
Gerrard won't play as much this season especially if we sign Ramirez and Allen.
I said what an awful performance, which is a summary of one game. I have not been unpatient, because I am evaluating him in one game, but not judging him for the future.
O fcourse he will improve, but I am just pointing to the hypocrisy of some of our posters, when they talk about some of our players.
I couldn't agree more.
The problem is Gerrard is that good he is worth keeping forever...last year he got a hatrick against Everton, he scored a hatrick last year or the year before against Napoli...he only turns it on every so often but he still is quality.
Downing has the ability to be great , as does Henderson, Adam etc but Spearing will never ever be good enough...that is the reason why i have a go at him and allow some of the other players the benefit of doubt
We won't be signing both Ramirez and Allen, do you have any idea how much that will cost us?
It will be one or the other, and we need to strengthen more in other positions.
Form is temporary, class is permanent. He has come back from a major injury. Short memories fella's. Anyone remember the Everton game? Won that on his own.
we could get allen and ramirez but only if we sold carroll and aquilani. if i had to choose between them though it would be ramirez all day long
but I am just pointing to the hypocrisy of some of our posters,

Not very successfully.
Players like Adam, Spearing, Downing etc, disappoint, and play well below an acceptable level week after week, well into the premiership season.
To compare Gerrard's performance in a game were he will still be getting back to match fitness, and then say you are trying to show the duplicity of fans who criticize the players I mentioned earlier, is just plain stupid.
There is no comparison whatsoever between the two.
Couldn't agree with you more. The team needs a new identity and gerrard is pulling us back because he always changes our attack with he's Hollywood passes. I love the lad but like carra, he needs to play a smaller role from now on.
Im actually gobsmacked by the lot of you!!
his first run around after his break, not even featured properly in friendlies and this is how his fans repay him;

Fred Bassett - Gerrard won't play as much this season especially if we sign Ramirez and Allen.

Im speechless!
1man its true. when was the last time you saw gerrard smack one in from 30 yards. every time he's tried it recently he's blazed it high and wide. his performances at the world cup were the best i'd seen in a while.
Gotta love some Liverpool fans, first they take Dalglish to the cleaners + now it's Steven Gerrard.
1man, lets not fool ourselves please. He's still got something to offer but he should be phased out. Check the stats of the games with him versus the ones without last year and you'll see that we play better without him.

owww this is gooood!!! I dont think Gerrard will fit this formation and i do not think Rodgers has the clout in the team to bench him yet. Let the blame placing begin! It could be another AVB all over again!
Sadly, i think one of stevie me's injury will save him but if he stays fit? So much carnage in store this season!!!
Form is temporary, class is permanent
That is balls, Owen and Fowler proves that theory wrong.
There is no question Gerrard needs to adapt his game. But lambasting him for a poor performance today is uncalled for imo, especially when you consider our team performance in general. Also, the inclusion of Spearing inhibits his performance, because he can't rely on him. If Lucas started in the DM role. Gerrard would have been a lot more assured and able to positively influence the game.
All you slagging him are effing idiots. He's only been training for about ten days. Give him a chance.
too early to write Gerrard off - but he needs to have a good start to the season or the boo boys will be out in force
At last sense and sainity returns to 606
No alassmithandjones you're balls. Big hairy ones. Idiot.
