Thinking about it that 21 man squad has 8 HG players anyway does it not?
Jones Johnson Carra Kelly Allen Gezza Jonjo Hendo Downing Borini Bellars, 11 out of 21 aint too bad.

Very short of goals that squad.
The under 21 rule is that if you are 21 or under on 1st January of the year the season starts you are eligable to be used without being part of the 25 man squad.
I wouldn't be happy with that. I think we'd struggle massively to score goals.
I would expect goals wise next season off the attacking players in all the league...
Suarez - 20
Dempsey - 13
Borini - 12
Ramirez - 9
Downing - 9
Gerrard - 10
The Rest - 8
Thats 81 Goals...
That would be a really good return in my opinion...
Obviously some players could exceed my expectations and other be below them but I think up there is a fair return and should be roughly (hopefully) what we get...
I reckon that looks quite decent actually. Not the finished article obviously but certainly an improvement. I think if our squad looked like that after one transfer window under Rodgers, we would definitely be moving in the right direction. Although I would probably give Adam another season, see how he does when he has got Lucas alongside him again. He started off last season quite well.

I agree, and although i cut Adam/Cole/Carroll if they are to be kept by BR then thats fine imo. I mean they are all decent squad players at the minimum so... But they are not really needed imo and are expendable.

Great input Don't explain why or who you would include to get these goals or anything
"Thats 81 Goals... "
No. That's dreaming.
I think that squad would definitely score more than the meagre 47 league goals we got last season. We need to be aiming for around 70ish really and I wouldn't say it is out of the question.
I love how people back BR one minute, then question where the goals are coming from when BR puts emphasis on the team/system to get goals rather then certain players or positions..............
TOOR
They act like they know what BR is doing and what his system is all about then question the players and where the goals are coming from Very Classy.
I argue with him a lot not that much recently though get accused of not supporting Liverpool and being a WUM if I say anything negative about the team hahaha

I thought I'd said it so much over the past few days people would be sick of hearing it. I feel without Adam we'd struggle to penetrate, we'd being doing nice passes until the the final third, as we've seen in the few games so far. Even more of a problem, without Carroll, or a similar player, we'd struggle to hold the ball in the final third, long enough for the wide forwards and midfield to join the attack. This is the thing I noticed after the first game, with this system and has continued to be true in the three games after.
For me Brendan has something up his sleeve to make this work and we won't know what it is until close to the window closing. It could be Carroll staying, it could be a loan, as has been whispered around for a while now.
Agree with TOOR for once as the one thing we've lacked for a while is penetration.
It's all nice having players who can keep possession, but you need players who can turn that possession into chances/goals.
That's why Swansea were so effective last season. They had Allen & Britton retaining the ball and Siggy/others(Angel?) creating chances.
What madeit work so well was the fact they had fast wingers who would force the opposition defence to sit deeper, which would benefit the targetman as he would be closer to goal. And that funnels in with the wingbacks providing width for the team
For this system to be as effective as possible, we need fast inside forwards(Bellamy/Sterling/Borini and to an extent Suarez and Downing) and we also need a dynamic targetman. Players like Adam are also crucial.
My personal ideal signings would be Allen/Sahin on loan (if Allen doesn't happen), Adebayor on loan with Carroll as back up. And if we are to get rid of Bellamy, sign a quick winger.
I don't really agree that we lack penetration.
We do compared to say Man United or Man City, but our problem last season was chance conversion not chance creation.
We are not perfect creation wise and certainly more players who can create wouldn't go amiss, but if we create exactly the same amount of chances as last season and convert 10% more, we will end up with at least 15 more points.
Not really, a lot of our chances last season were half chances as we couldn't get any 1on1 chances.
