Dementieva won numerous WTA titles, Fed cup, multi olympic medals and over $10mill prize money.
Hardly a mediocre career.
She never won a major and claimed the gold medal filled that void in her resume but was immediately shut down
You're not a hall of fame player or on the list of all time greats unless you win a major,a gold medal will never change that
Hardly a mediocre career.
Define a mediocre career please?
Amongst top ten of all-time most successful Masters Cup winners.
One of only nine players in tennis history to reach the semi of each slam in a calendar year.
Four times slam finalist.
Olympic Gold and Silver medallist.
22 ATP titles.
Reached as high as No.2 in rankings.
Hardly mediocre - far from it in fact.
Has to be one of the most nonsensical comments I've read on ja606 I'm afraid.

Come back when you have a modicum of tennis knowledge strett. They are not majors they are slams. And sorry but even Tim has admitted he isn't in the same class as Andy. At least Tim is gracious.

I must admit, I do get tired of Judy Murray's 'look at me' type comments on twitter.

Nope no epic fail as slams is the term they are widely renowned as. I'd agree if you were talking of golf but in tennis they are commonly known as slams.

That link is a US angle on the Olympics of couse so no British bias there.

Well it offers a non-British opinion so bias can't be accused. Also see Fed saying he hopes to have another crack at Olympic Gold at Rio. Why would he say that if the title means nothing to him?
