Murray must face questions. My feeling is I doubt if he engaged in deliberate cheating. But there may have been a huge foul-up. It's hard to believe he would have deliberately set out to to break the tax laws or football rules - but an extremely costly mess may have been made.
Trying to take off my green and white tinted spectacles it seems to me that Murray is only looking at self preservation.
If he really was that bothered he would know not to use the term "new Rangers" as it feeds the argument that Rangers are a new club (something of a sore point with a number of Rangers fans regardless of whether it is true or not).
Murray would only release a statement like that to try and cover his own backside, his ego wouldn't allow the press etc to dirty his name.
As for the EBTs well I don't really know but regardless of innocent or guilty it is a stick that is being used to beat Rangers and that is Murrays fault. The debt to Lloyds and the fact he didnt put a single penny of his own money into the club suggests Rangers was run on his ego and not as a business.
Whatever Murray's motives might be the statement is a forceful defence of the club (though of course it might not succeed in the end).
As for new club, he did put "new" in inverted commas.
the irony is, i can understand using ebts in walter smiths first spell at the club, "but we never" we were splashing the cash around like nobody's business. so therefore i can understand if murray is feeling he needs to scale back on things make a tighter budget in the years after but yet again under advocaat he threw more at it. i find it interesting. from HMRC to this ill feeling that rangers cheated everybody down to the we man on the street. fact of the matter is, its operational procedure to take care off running costs first and prioritising the rest and yes there is always people waiting to get there share.
so many factors at fault here. so many quesutons.
Whyte used ticketus money to buy the club which meant we were "debt free" to TSB how can we get to a stage we get liquidated for 15-20 mill in unpaid "PAYE"
Has there been a decision with HMRC????
How can the club be "SOLD" under such circumstances and why????????????
the FA can't even run there on game and get that right so its understandable why they havent a clue in the Rangers situation.
"Whatever Murray's motives might be the statement is a forceful defence of the club (though of course it might not succeed in the end)."
In his statement Murray admits that there were "non contractual loans from third parties" and other "non contractual issues". He has as good as admitted there were second contracts. Doh!
Don't think so. You think "loans from third parties" is an admission?

yet you repeat his use of the prefix 'non' twice.
So he has as good as admitted their were no second contracts.
Is he correct I dont know.
When we win the Big tax Case Timmy is going to go rage-bongo.
I personally thank David Murray for giving some great nights and great years to Rangers fans. I'd rather have been the Rangers we were and were entertained by, and be in the division 3 grubber that we are, than have had those years denied and have been just another Hearts or Aberdeen and to be sitting in the SPL as it is, or even as it was last season. Thank you Sir Davie ... I loved every minute of it and would not change it, even with the benefit of hindsight. Big deal ... a year having fun in Division 3 and then back up and debt free. Toffee.

Timmy is going to go rage-bongo?!
Imagine how rage-bongo ra berzz would be if it dawned on them that they need not have undergone that liquidation-thingy after all.
Oh. I nearly forgot. Y'er a pie.

Best laugh I've had since I saw some traveller mum-of-the -bride on tv with the darkest spray tan I've ever seen. The peroxide hair didn't help, made her look like old man Steptoe in a wig ffs !
Admitting that there are second contracts shows the intelligence of the man. The only thing left for the INDEPENDENT commision is to decide if they were contractual or not. Thank you Mr Murray

So if Murray is proved to be correct, can we sue all these punters for their 'cheats' etc comments'?
That should buy a good few players!!!

You can't sue me. I've been nothing but impartial and balanced throughout this saga.

Hahahaha Is that these Irish mobs that I have seen on tv? It's depressingly hilarious. I think they are travellers because they are roaming the country to try and find a brain cell to share.
Murray was a risk taker, he brought us players no one else could have and 9 in a row
Sometimes risk taking is bad for you and a world wide financial meltdown pulled the rug from under him and unfortunately us too
It's done now, we need to start from the bottom, but we have a fan base that Murray helped foster and that will see back to where we belong
I wish that the RST would stop embarrassing us by blaming the tims
We are the club with dignity, let's show it by supporting our team while the tims embarras themselves with their songs of terror
