Now we are trying to sign joe allen for around £15million. Arsenal are signing santi cazorla for just a few million more.

Ramirez and Sahin.

Totally unproven in the league. Huge gamble.

there aren't too many players who have come here with the quality that those two players have and failed.

Don't complain about Liverpool or the JA606 legend TOOR will come on to your post and accuse you of crying like a baby and calling you an idiot!!! Simply because he does not have the brain power to construct an arguement without trading child like insults you would expect to hear on the school playing field... Be warmed!!!

BTW I agree with everythin you say!!!

Sahin is that good is he?

Clearly isn't - he can't get anywhere near the team at Madrid.

Madrid have one of the best teams if not the best team in Europe... None of our current players on current form would get in their team apart from mabey Suarez...

Sahin has been injured.

Looks like Suarez has signed a new contract. Not all bad news!

fred bassett sahin is top drawer. he's not been given a chance at madrid. he was one of the best players in europe for dortmund the season before he joined madrid

They'd at least make the bench ahead of Granero and Diarra...

Watch out Philo....someone is bound to come on now telling you that Podolski is rubbish at club level

If you pay peanuts, expect monkeys.

We are still paying too much money for young players with 'potential.'

honestlivpool whats confusing about that. we keep buying overpriced young players with 'potential.' henderson, carroll last year. borini, allen this year

So what if podiolski signed for Arsenal for a simialr price as Borini? How do we know that Borini won;t end up being better? Where is the faith in the player? Are we writing him off already. Borini is 6 years younger so the price isn't bad. Should we have spent that moeny on a proven premier league goal scorer such as Dempsey instead? Or would he have been too old?

And I find it admirable that folks seem to have enough time on their hands to not only watch Liverpool week in week out, but also to watch Swansea, assess Allen and then see enough of Bologna to determine that Ramirez would be a better player though his career.

also.....

"Continuing the rant I also can't understand why every bit of transfer business liverpool do whether its to sell or buy a player, it has to be preceded by months of speculation."

It because newspapers need to seel untis and Liverpool do their business for the most part, in private. Its because people on the internet have an insatiable appetite for instant gratification and forums such as this and many others just lap up the gossip. I thought most people knew that.

rubbish. signing a player can take a matter of hours. for liverpool however each signing/sale takes a matter of months. I also support nottingham forest. we signed four players in four days after our takeover went through. it really isn't that difficult. yet liverpool seem to find it so.

also i would normally applaud the signing of borini. however given what happened last summer. this summer we really should be signing proven talents rather than potential. buying youth used to be the cheap way of getting a quality. now its the other way round. we need to realise that. i don't want borini to be good in 3 years time. we need borini to be quality now. we should be showing more urgency in trying to get into the top four.

Where does the "still" come from? We haven't overspent on anyone this year have we?

When did we sign Allen?

no ..toor's thing is to accuse you of not being a liverpool fan ....and asking the admins to ban you from the board as he did me when i joined in feburary

ps op..i agree with what you said.....the fact that we are trying to sign joe allen from swansea instead of proven internationals like spurs and arsenal and united is driving me crazy.....

when it comes to liverpool ..the price goes up for some reason ......i saw a rag commenting that joe allens price could go up to TWENTY MILLION

I hear your points, but as fred says Ramirez and Sahin are gambles, Sahin should be ok after his experience in the German league.

But the Italian league really hasnt given us many successful players over the years.

Allen - although inflated - is a signing i think we NEED.

Not had anything like that since Alonso ... no i am not comparing him to Alonso btw

allen has the potential to become a 'liverpool quality player.' i would argue that ramirez already is and has the potential to become a world class player. allen's only had one season in the prem its not like he's proven yet and certainly isn't proven at top level football. ramirez has shown enough ability to manage in the prem.
