Dont agree on this one. McDo should be good for this season and he (IMO) fits in well with the team. If we get a decent winger am sure he will put more away.
Jabo's problem is that he finds it hard to put the ball away - just to erratic in his finishing, but he is a handfull to play against for most L1 teams.
Bowditch - I know everyone likes him - just does not impress me that much. But lets get playing and then we can better have this discussion.
If we can avoid throwing away points like we did last season (and the season before) in the last few minutes of the game - and maintain the rest of our game - we should go up
Bad news lads, apparently you're in for Anthony Kay.
Looks like it according to media at your end - and I see you signed another CB/Midfielder so sounds like he is surplus to Grayson's needs. Nothing at our end, but it was rumoured a few weeks back we were about to sign someone, and I see that was around the time Kay was rumoured to be going out on a season loan to an unamed club.
Dont know much about he lad - clear you are not shedding too many tears SuperN
according to the Terrier boards, Kay story was on radio Leeds - amazed it reached Huddersfiled
What's this Radio Leeds you speak of?!
I saw the story chalked on the hind leg of a whippet whilst on my way to a 25 hour shift daan t'pit
Charlie was very unlucky last season. He was bought in to partner Sam Baldock up front but with Baldock leaving, he was eventually given a role in which he was not supposed to do, often playing up front on his own which is obviously not to his strengths.
I reckon if we got rid of Charlie, especially if you're complaining he doesn't score goals and are happy to keep Ibehre because he has a nice song.
Charlie works his arsenal off and when he's not scoring he's setting up goals, you can see he plays for the shirt and is deadly committed to the side.
Okay he doesn't score as much as he should but with Lowe coming in, maybe we might change the formation a bit some games having two upfront, if so I think MacDonald and Lowey will be a fantastic partnership at this level! Don't judge him on pre season, a lot of players looked tired so you can't hate on anyone and last season I was actually impressed with him given that it was obvious he was playing against his normal style of play.
I agree with McMaccer, the last thing Robbo should do is get rid of any more people, lets test him against L1 opposition until Christmas and then if he doesn't come up to the mark get shot of him in January
Continuing from the first paragrapht -_-..
"I reckon.......It'd be a silly move as he's a hard worker over all and a very creative forward"
I like MacDonald and clearly its the wrong time in the season to talk about selling him. He does, as pointed out, also work hard for the team but I do have my reservations
(1) Has his confidence gone? He just needs to nick one and it should come back, but I feel it might be hampering his shooting.
(2) Does our style of play suit him as he is a goal poacher while we are playing him up front on his own? He might be better come on as a sub, especially as Bowditch, Chadwick, Powell and Chicksen like to cut inside. It only leaves Deano to get any crosses in.
(3) As in the Alan Hansen parlance, has is legs gone or was he never that quick? Again it might be better to play him when defenders legs are tiring.
I also liked the movement and speed of Lowe, but if there is a choice who takes free kicks between O'Shea, Williams and Lowe. Lowe should come 3rd.
I hope I am wrong about Charlie, but when you consider Izale McLoud scored over 20 goals for Barnet and they almost went out of the league, I would rather have him back as he hasnt got a club.
Looking at Wycombe I still cant believe Beavon is with them as he got 27 goals for a team that got relegated from our league, and he scored against us last season and in the game I saw at Adams Park he looked very dangerous.
Anyway I wasnt saying Ibhere is any good, because for a big man he cant score headers, which Beavon can.
“Antony Kay was another one that we’ve knocked on the door and tried to do,” said Moore. “But he has gone to MK Dons – or is going to MK Dons tomorrow.
“Mind you, I probably shouldn’t have let that out should I?”
In the local press - so sounds like Kay will be with us tomorrow - on the terriers boards they feel as a CB he will do a good job for us and he tries to play rather than hoof the ball
And I see Burton turned down the offer to be with MK Dons and instead is off to join Martin Allen (good luck)
So just a winger to go?
Whilst I'm a bit critical of Kay I hope he does a job for you and that you guys do a job on League 1
be eeck SN, you working a short shift or what, 25 hours, luxury, you'll need more than whippets to beat those sophisticates from Leeds
I'm thinking you may be a fellow Python fan, Moo.....?
SN? no I run a pet shop and specialise in the rare Norweigian Blue - I seem to sell alot of those to the gentle folk of Leeds, who like the birds ability to be totally still - just like their football
Looking on the net this morning Michael Owen has been released by Man Utd, Keith Andrews ad Aaron Wilbraham also been released by their clubs.
Michael Owen is stll looking for a Premiership Club and he would destroy the pay structure (in my opinion he wouldn't be worth the bother)
Thought Alby had gone to Palace, have they got rid of him already?
Wilbrahamovic as they call him in Norfolk has indeed moved on to Palace!
Michael Owen wouldn't drop this far down, won't even go to the Championship because he's happy sitting on a Premiership side's bench bless him!
Back to Charlie, I think the style of play unsettles him a bit and he seems confused as to what we're gonna do next lot of the time, but I still think he's effective.
Like Furz said maybe this season we could use him as an effective sub which I think he'll do well at!
Izale is a player I wanted us to sign but I understand why we haven't went and got him (Yet anyways). The 'never go back' thing could still daunt Robbo after the Ince/Jemal Johnson sagas, then again David Martin's return has in my opinion been successful, and Damien Doyle returning has been brilliant to put it lightly.
But I can understand why Robinson hasn't snapped him up. Very frustrating at times and probably not the sort of consistancy we need at this time. I reckon Izale would suit a club like Colchester more than us, a mid table team unlikely to challenge but he'd be their main man up front, fans favourite scoring goals and attracting interest in League One at a later time, if he come to us now there'd be too much expectancy.
