you have been selling to city so why is utd any different?
both are top 4 rivals to arsenal
all those fans demanding we let go of RVP to Utd (or any other rival) is quite stupid and will live to regret that decision before next season is over.

Let go of Percy? Maybe.
Let go of Percy to either of the Manchester clubs? Hell no!
No offence but United aren't really your rivals anymore.
I have to agree with the first post
I don't know why the Gooners are crying about this, you've been shifting most of your players to the bitters for the past 4 years and weren't making such a big deal about it.
would it feel worse if it was to Spurs (who are desperate for a striker)
It's not the same - during the late 90s and early 00s us and United were the two top teams and rivals. Selling our best player to them would have been inconceivable then. If we were to do it now, it would be an admission that we can no longer compete with them (even though I think we may have the strongest squad we've had for a while this season.)

City have been giving us ridiculous amounts of money for our want-a-way players.
£25m for Adebayor
£25m for Nasri
£16m for Toure
£7m for Clichy
The difference is that United will give us maybe £12m for Van Persie.
I would have no problem with the transfer if we got a good deal out of it... let's say £20m, but we won't and so we should just hold him to his contract and let him leave next year instead of giving him to a rival for a small amount.
Man City are not our rivals though, they're just living the dream atm. You think they're going to stay at the top forever? Every dog has its day. Man City will fade away within 10 years. They're not traditionally our rivals, Man Utd are and always will be.
I really can't see RVP joining them.

Are you serious? We're not that stingy, I know our financial strength isn't great but if RVP does come to United it'll be for at least £20m

They are not bitters. Stop bashing City

tbh with u utd are not our rivals anymore.
United or City are not our rivals anymore and won't be until we inject some winning mentality into our club.
However, selling our best player to a club in our own league has and always will be a moral kick in the bolox and the step in the wrong direction.
Barring either Manchester offering very silly money (£25m+), i would prefer to sell to a Foreign club or just hold onto him.
