When did we last spend any money of note in the January window?
ok yeah master likes to spend lots aye?
StevieDee
Good point but, when did we last bring ten players in pre season....?
Great thread Waccoe...
Waccoe I know what your saying pal and agree ..the 2 above obviously dont...
Steve see .. you seemed to be cokc sure you had this great source a few week ago ... What happened there ?
Agreed but let's not get into the debate about the quality of said players. It's also fair to say that yet again there's been negative investment from the club with signings funded by selling our better players. Not acceptable but nowt I or anyone else can do to change that.
I suspect it was the -15pts season btw...
* stevie dee .. my apologies
eric do you think we will finnish top 8?
My source was spot on. He said that there was a takeover bid. There was. He said that the valuations were miles apart. Could well be the reason why nothing has happened. He said that there could be a sting in the tail. Rumours, and yes they are rumours, suggest that could the case too.
My contact is part of a business connected with Leeds United. The owner of which is a Monaco resident and friend of Bates.
The only difference in what I've been told is that the consortium was Americans and not the Middle Eastern set that has been so heavily linked of late.
I didn't believe that there was a bid until I had that conversation.
Not all business negotiations end successfully. So not sure of the point you are trying to make me old mucker............
even if a take over had taken place, they weren't going to come in and give Warnock the money to sign a load more players.
...........................................................................................
So they were going to spend £60M on a business they were prepared to let stagnate in The Championship? Do behave Wacko Waccoe
YoungWhite
He might not want a 'load more' players, on that point Waccoe might have hit the nail on the head, two marquee players up front might be enough. They might have given him money for a couple.
Possible...?
Eric - IF (and that's a big one) there were really a consortium willing to spend that kind of money on a 2nd tier set-up, they would have had to have a business plan on getting us in the cash-cow league ASAP - 2 more new faces of immense talent would not have been enough for this season.
We don't need a load more. We need a few. The players we have should keep us up and probably mid-table.
We need firepower and creativity.
We do have Reg and Gray though........
YoungWhite
Add those to the ten already arrived, and the retention of McCormack and Lees...!
Look at it overall, not just today.
Warnock may have been angling for Maynard and another as his marquee signings to add the icing, as the deal is now in limbo he's had to adjust his plans.
Neil Warnock is better capable of moving with shifting sands than any of our recent managers.
That said it would be great to have a firm footing, sadly at the mo' we haven't.
The thing is with this takeover, if it had taken place then I'd thought, well, hoped they'd have money to do something for our team,(team I said!)but I have a feeling that if it had gone through then they'd have maybe got one/two more in, and then waited for January and throw what they thought was needed at the team!..
I'd have thought/still think the January sales would be the make or break of us this year!..
Will be too late by January mate
£20 Leeds will be top 10 in January!
You've already gone from top 6 to top 10 Waccoe - what next - top 20?

Erm it seems highly unlikely that they would have gone to exclusivity if the valuations were far apart.
You go into these situations when you are broadly at one on the important things like price.
Due diligence is hugely expensive and no-one wants to waste that time and effort and money if you are still miles apart on value.
Top 10 by Jan, top 6 by end of season.
I'll have £100 that we are not top 6 by end of season
Wildorange: And positions change....... Refer to my orignal post and the date and then the statement from LUFC and the date.
