Measured down to its base on the sea floor, it's roughly about as high as Mt. Everest (the Canaries aren't located on the continental shelf of Africa, but rise directly off the ocean floor).

However, clouds in the Canaries tend to form at very low altitude (due to some sort of interaction between the prevailing trade winds and the ocean temperatures), so the upper reaches of the Teide get very little rain or snow.

What it certainly isn't is an 'sh' sound like in French, if that's part of your doubt.

The difference between a Spanish 'ch' and an English 'ch' is very subtle. Some kids at school used to take the píss out of my 'ch's when I first came over to Spain, but even today I still can't hear the difference.
