Hi Doc. Sevilla on the up under Emery. Michel's a pile of poo.
Dr Feelgood has been in the news recently
(Their guitarist)
"There were supposedly 200 names on the Fuentes client list and there were footballers and tennis players among them. Some players from some of Spain’s biggest clubs, it has been said. And yet they have been given a pardon by the Spanish government."
This is what gets me about the reporting on the Operación Puerto case. It's being made out as if it was all being covered up by the authorities.
The sportspeople haven't been given a pardon at all. The simple matter of fact is that at the time the events allegedly took place, doping itself wasn't a punishable offence under Spanish law (the law has since been reformed), and you can't prosecute someone for something that wasn't against the law at the time of the events.
The have however been able to make a case for the supply of drugs for doping as an offence against public health safety, which is what Fuentes and co. are accused of.
Again, by the letter of the law, they face a maximum sentence of 2 years - nothing the authorities can do about it, as that's what was set forth by the laws applicable at the time - yet if and when they do get the 2-year sentence, which again due to the law will be suspended for first-time offenders and allow them to walk free, there will again be international outrage about how Spain covers up doping.
Sheesh. Someone please pass me the hypo.

IOAG - It's all being used as stick to poke Spanish sporting success with. No coincidence that a lot of lazy British journos have jumped on the bandwagon.
Always on the offensive rather than worrying about their own deficiencies.

Uppy, Spain on the whole is getting fatter by the minute. It's a western disease.
Clásico tonight.
I had a quick look at the index for the sports pages on teletext this morning and it said:
"Madrid-Barça 136-9"
I thought it was a bit optimistic until I realised that those were the pages with news on the game.
Either way, I don't think they're that far off. My prediction: 3-1 or 4-1 to Madrid.
i predict a 3-2 win for madrid
