I have a Spanish friend who follow La Liga and he says they bully most clubs in to selling on the cheap. It wouldn't surprise me if that strike was their idea..

Of course, no surprises that real and barca can buy perceived world class talent at fire sale prices
Hi Benny and Galv
Benny they wont bully Dan and with 4 years left on Modrics deal the ball is firmly in our court
erm... "Fabregas has Barca DNA", "Ronaldo is a slave"
Those Spanish clubs are rascals (for want of a less printable word)
Galv sorry mate I cannot delete that work of art

Yeah it is, but they'll try. The worst part is they will expect Levy to crumble on deadline day and that isn't going to happen. Levy wants £40 million and if he doesn't get it he isn't selling.

not if the player hands in a transfer request and is not at the races. why keep him then?
The only way that Modric leaves on the cheap is if he does a Berba and goes on strike , then again with 4 years left on his deal I wouldn't put it past Danny to fine every penny of his wages indefinitely

You dont understand Levy
He vuews it the same as if you was selling your car and you thought it was worth 8k you wouldnt accept 6 for it regardless of what it was actually worth

I thought the comment from Pletikosa today was interesting...filled in the gaps 'arry 'accidentally' left out last week
"I'm one of (Modric's) best friends and I think Luka is doing well. Last year, Levy promised he could leave for the same amount (40 million euros)"

Madrid think they can get our player on the cheap just because of who they are, well I bet they dont know what has hit them dealing with Darth Levy.
They should pay our asking price or pi55 off.
Got to admire Levy`s stance, it is time more chairman followed his approach and stood up to player power, greedy agents and the bully boy tactics of Europes so called `big clubs`.
They'll end up paying the asking price, even though it won't be £40million as that is just Levy in negotiation mode.
I did a really good negotiation skills course a couple of years back. Key phrases all day were..."Open high, stay strong and never underestimate the power of silence"...sound familiar?
Barfly..... totally agree
