we need defenders and midfielders well are
best centre half is back playing, and 3 midfileders who spent nearly of all last season out are playing tonight fully fit......then add Van Persie, the future looks very rosie for United and will win the title!

There are good chances that might not happen.

To suggest that in your opinion we don't have what it takes to finish in the top 2 is a reasonable stance, but to suggest we were lucky last season is purely ridiculous and somewhat undermines your reasoning behind your premise!!!

I suggested on the basis of poor performance from Chelsea and Arsenal.

If United had finished 1 point ahead of 3rd place with a relatively low points total then one could perhaps try to make such an argument, but United finished on 89 points, the second highest points total in Premier League history, so United made their own luck, they didn't need to rely on Arsenal and Chelsea having poor seasons!

posted on 15/8/12

How many points you gained against Arsenal and Chelsea in comparison to previous season?

We beat Arsenal home and away last season and took 4 points from Chelsea; even if we'd lost those fixtures Arsenal would have still been 3 ponts behind!!!

You are not getting something here.. It's not only Utd gain but also a loss to Arsenal and Chelsea to make up.

You're gonna have to explain that one a bit clearer because I'm not sure what your point is there.

If Arsenal lose 3 points against Utd then apparently they lost 6 points to overcome the deficit.

United finished on 89 points, Arsenal had 70 points; if United had lost home and away to these teams United would have finished on 79 points and Arsenal 76 points, so please explain how luck plays a part here!

posted on 15/8/12

As someone said earlier are 3 points massive to overcome in course of 9 months?

luck is the x amount of points won by referees keeping United out of the Europa League.

3 points may not seem a lot to overcome but this has to be added to the other 16 points that Arsenal were behind on!!! A 19 point gap is not based on luck!!!

posted on 15/8/12

The reason Arsenal are 16 points behind because of poor form and injuries. Arsenal and Chelsea won't be the same team again as in the previous year with additions of new players.

Fine, if either of those teams get 89 points or more then they will have done well, and it could happen, but their poor performances and injury troubles do not equate to United's luck; it takes a lot more than luck to reach 89 points and United know all about injuries!!!
