Interesting appointment. I thought he would re-appear as manager of a L1/L2 side.
Had success with Lennie Lawrence as a mentor. Intelligent, honest and thorough. Not particularly creative and as a manager was too loyal to certain players.
If he makes a success of this post he will then be well set up, with his Rovers experience in his CV, to go for a higher level manager's post.
Vast majority of Rovers' fans thought well of him and would wish him luck. In Hughton and Trollope you have two 'straight as a die' guys.
Heard this on SSN early one, dont know to much about him.
We are still trying to agree a fee with Hibernian for Calderwood if we do so he should be a good apointment.

He has a funny name. That's about all I know about him.
I seem to remember he was a decent enough player in his time and showed potential as a manager in the lower leagues.
Welcome Paul
What a load of Trollope!!!
His father is John Trollope....Swindon stalwart.
Paul Trollope lives in the Swindon area.
We were his 1st managerial job and he got us promoted in his 1st full season via the league 2 play offs. Same season we beat rivals Bristol City (who were a division above us) to get to the JPT final, going on to lose that in extra time vs a higher league team. Following season we got into the last 8 quarter finals of FA cup as a league 1 club and consolidated our league 1 status. The following 2 seasons we had 2 top half finishes. So all in all he did very well with us. He is our 3rd or 4th longest serving manager and our 1st manager in over 15 years to get us promotion. He is one of footballs good guys.
After his 1st 4 years with us having Lennie Lawrence as his director of football, our board got rid of Lennie to save on wages thinking Trollope was ready on his own. He was later sacked in his 5th season by December after falling into the relegation zone for the 1st time.
I honestly believe if he stayed as manager we would still be in league 1 now and ended last season mid table. Instead we went on to get a further 3 managers last season and end up getting relegated.
His negatives were being to loyal to certain players who were in very bad form. Some of his signings were very poor. He signed some players who were injury prone and gave them 3 year deals! Which dont make sense.
He was in the top 10 list of up and coming managers along with Darren Ferguson when he was with P'boro in his 1st spell.
You have him now as a coach, put it this way, you could do a lot worse. I hope he is a success as he wrongly sacked by our club in my opinion.
I need to go and lie down I find myself agreeing with almost everything written by a gashead. You probably have made a good signing as a coach in Trollope I also believe that had the Sags incompetant board stuck with him the Gas would have finished the season without being relegatedbut their board(something thick short and made of wood) has let that club down time and again over the last few years.
Good Luck in the new season except on 22nd Oct and 14th April. You seem to be building a strong management structure if you can replace some of the players that are leaving you could still be in the mix for promotion at the end of the season, then the rat might be replacing you in the championship as I don't think he will do much for the Villans this year(except possably ruin them)
judging by what the two people above have said he should be a good manager
Its good that blues are sorting out the management team, but I would like them to also look at bringing in a couple of players, someone on our board has got to have to odd spare million kicking about!!

Trollope was at Derby as a player in the mid 90's. He would have worked with MaClaren who was our coach under Jim Smith.
I think it is a good appointment for you.
See you all at Pride Park on 6 August....should be a 30,000 plus crowd.
Ruberyram - are you sure you dont live south Warwichshire?? Are you flyover or hare n hounds?

JT....when I lived in Rubery,I was flyover area....now in North Worcs.
Are you going to Pride Park in August.
There will be quite a few of us going, last season we agreed to try and get to more away games as it is usually a better atmoshpere than home games, certainly under our ex manager, now Hughton is here we will probably spread it evenly, we will go to the big games, first away, last away, all the local ones, you guys obviously and forest and cov and leicester. Then pick and choose the others
